Nascar was founded in Florida, in the Streamline Hotel. But North Carolina is considered stock car country.

December 1947 by Bill France Sr. in Daytona Beach Fla called a meeting at the Streamline Hotel - Feb. 15th, 1948 was the first Nascar race in Daytona.

I just read this book... and I still can't answer that! what a dweeb. If I am not mistaken, its North Carolina... but actually there was a bit of a confusion because it was actually started with alot of the southern eastern states... all those origional drivers I think it was bill france sr or his father that actually gathered together the first funds to build a dirt track in carolina and then he built one in daytona...these tracks were raced by some of the finest bootleggers of all time... that is where most of the very first drivers got their start running moonshine....
