No.
All starving yourself does is slow down your metabolism to almost a stopping point. Therefore, when you do decide to eat something (even a small bite of something) your body won't have the metabolism to properly digest it and process it. You'll wind up gaining weight.
Of course, starvation does work in the long run...like four to six months down the road. But if the body is kept under starvation conditions for a long period of time, it will consume organs and other tissues in your body. After that, your whole body will shut down and death will ensue.
By the time you reach that body shutting down part, you'll be so disgusting no one would focus on slim you are. They would be too busy noticing how you can not control your bowel and bladder.
Diet and exercise like crazy if you really want to lose weight and not die.

Starving yourself slows down your metabolism and your body goes into starvation mode (meaning your body holds onto the fat and utilizes the muscle for the protein it needs to survive). Think of your body like a car - it cant run without gas, oil, anti freeze etc etc. You need carbs, protein & fats in 4-6 small balanced meals spaced through the day. Doing cardio and lifting weights will help you loose faster - if you go to the gym in the morning and burn say 500-1000 calories, you are that much closer to loosing weight. 1 lb of weight is 3200 calories lost. Everyones body is slightly different.
I suggest u make it a goal to learn about foods. What you are eating and why you should or should not be eating it. ie: What is in that piece of pizza exactly :-)
Best of luck to you.

Starving does not work if you are trying to lose weight, because even if you have the feeling that you are losing weight the minute you start eating, your body will replace all the calories he needed and you didn't gave it.
Also, it would "think" that you are going on a really difficult time to get food and it would make grease deposits for those times you don't eat (to get the energy you need)

No, it won't. Your metabolism will slow down, and your body will begin storing fat for the meals that you do eat. If anything, it'll make you lose a few pounds up front, and then cause you to quickly gain weight. The most accepted method is to eat four or five smaller meals a day, in order to keep your metabolism burning food constantly and become more efficient. That coupled with exercise is the way to go, not eating will force your body to change the way it functions for the worse.

Starving yourself is very unhealthy. You need those nutrients and calories to keep your body running. Think of it as a fire, you have to keep throwing wood on it or the fire goes out. If you want to lose weight, eat lots of fruits and vegetables and go for a run or something.
Please don't starve yourself :(
Also, it's only safe to lose 1-2 pounds per week.

Starving yourself is definitely not a healthy way to lose weight. In fact, a person may do more damage to his or her body by starving themselves, than by actually eating! Your cells, organs, organ systems, and organelles all need energy to survive. Your body receives its energy from the food that you eat, and stores any excess in the form of adipose (fat). Without a source of energy, cells die, organs die, and therefore organ systmes start to collapse... You may end up killing yourself by starving yourself! You may even be surprised to hear that your body also needs fat. Fat in the form of adipose tissue serves to protect and cushion vital organs. Starving yourself will only cause you to have less muscle, more fat, and a slower metabolism! If you starve yourself, it will be harder than ever to lose weight. If you want to gain more muscle, and trim some fat, I advise you to talk to a doctor or a nutritionist and go about it a healthy way! I mean, what would be the point of starving yourself to lose weight, when you may end up dead?

No if you starve yourself apart from the health risks your body will store fat as its natures way of keeping you alive, the best way to lose weight is cut out sugary drinks, eat less fats, exercise more, and very importantly drink lots of water.
You have to live like this for the rest of your life though .
Lifestyle change .

well it helps me when i want to look like a skeleton. (true, i do it from time to time, just for like a 1-2 lb weight loss) You don't need to starve youself, just cut down the amount you ea and the type of foods. Stay away from fatty, fried stuff or lots of sugar. Go for the healthier natural foods, blah blah blah... you know the drill. :)
But seriously, just cooking your own food (no, TV dinners do NOT count) cuts down on all the bad stuff like salt and preservatives. Don't become anorexic just beacuse you want to lose weight. Oh, and I guess exercising might be helpful, especially intensive cardio.
And the rate of weight loss veries from person to person. There are different variables like matabolism.

ok, starving yourself is not the way to go to lose weight!!! it's very dangerous and can have many bad consequences. also, you will gain back all the weight you lose once you start eating normally again. the best way (maybe not the easiest or fastest) is just diet and exercise!! i don't wanna hear about another girl dying from trying to get thin!!!! BEST WISHES!!

yes it does work but to intentionally do it seems sick I went thru a bad breakup a couple years ago. My stomach was so upset that I could not eat and would not eat. I barely drank also but continued to work everyday. Finally after 4 days I knew I better go to the doctors and gets some stomach meds. Also keep in mind I was smoking two cartons of ciggs a week for two weeks till I could gather myslef. Anywho, no lie, in that 4 days of not eating and the the high smoking I did for two weeks, I lost 20lbs! And I'm not fat to begin with
