I admit, I'm sometimes guilty of this. I ask for rational thought and seeing bible quotes presented as evidence, or even other unproven beliefs, well, it irks me, so sometimes I have to respond. Lately, I've just waited for someone else to correct the misguided, or just ignored them. That strategy seems to work best, as people don't get bogged down in the little messages to other users.

Jabs are not nice from anyone. But let freedom reign. Be very reluctant to limit free speech except in an emergency (like war secrets, or hateful slander).
If you keep questioners from defending themselves you leave them at the mercy of the jabs of those who "answer" just to put them down.

I've done that and decided that it was sort of dumb, too.
I think it's a frustration of sorts that drives one to try it... The design of this board just isn't suitable for that kind of thing. This isn't a place to have a discussion - it's a question and answer format only. While making comments on answers might have some merit and may meet ones need to reply, it just doesn't fit in around here.

If I were the kind of person that engaged in Abuse Reporting, I'd consider such behavior an example of chatting, and report it.
But I'm not one of those people, so I just shake my head and move on.
The only time I address people directly in my Q or A is if their email is disabled. I never report anyone.

Good point, and no, it's not necessary. It's one thing to elaborate on your question, but you're right, this is not a discussion forum.
I guess some people just have to continue to make vain attempts at proving who is right.
If you think you are so right then why bother asking others??

I think if people are too scared to show their email address under their profile, then they shouldn't be asking questions in the first place.
Not sure which question/person you were referring to, but I'm guessing it was from someone who chooses to block the ability of others to email them.

What is the point of asking a question if you have already decided on the 'right' answer.
It is pathetic. All they are doing is stroking their own little egos. If someone responds with something just plain wrong, then O.K. correct them, with references. But to just snipe at people's opinions . . . . get a life.

Just guessing, but perhaps it makes them feel good about themselves to put other people down. They believe they have all the answwers & anyone who doesn't agree w/ them is stupid; it seems to me that they're just showing immaturity. A mature, open-minded person would be polite to others whether they are in agreement or not.

I don't mind at all, because I know I don't have all the answers. I could be wrong and in need of correction. Wisdom is something I welcome.
God bless you.
