please do NOT use an iron!!
it will frizz and its unbareably likely that you'll singe ur hair or burn the times os dont even try it!
straighteners work well, u can get some that take no time at all! (For instance mine - salonuk - works reeeeally quickly and iv got thick curly hair)
Straightening products: alot of them dont work but it depends on your hair type - but most reputable brands (i wouldnt recommend tresomee [however u spell it lol]) work as to keep ur newly blowdried/straightened hair for a long time. it prevents kinks as well.
Blowdrying works well with a paddle brush, and u can smooth it with glossproducts or serum.
If you want a sermipermanent look; a salon can "perm" your hair straight. it lasts btw 5 to 9 months. Doesnt frizz and looks really natural (my friend had it done inthe summer) the look is much more reliable than a curlperm as you can imagine!
I would however recommend straighteners if you dont like any of these options, you can get ones that dont damage your hair and if you use the right straightening products it can stop it from getting dryas a result of the heat as well!
hope this helps!!

There is a straightening treatment you can have that permanantly straightens your hair (for most hair types).
I haven't tried it as its pricey but it has has some good reviews.
Go to www.colournation.com.

do not use an clothes iron! it will beyond fry your hair...trust me my cousin did it. best bet is to blow dry it straight, use some straightening hair products to help, just basic stuff from like wal-mart or something.

I remember in the 70s my aunt used to comb her hair after washing, still damp, with a side parting and comb it all in one direction, wraping her head, holding the hair in place with long hairdresser clips. She would then let it dry and it'll be streightened when it was completely dry.

yes the best and safest way is to just try to use a brush and blow dry it straight. You can use hair care aids like bed head or tigi (straight options) before you start to blow dry and that may also help.

Blow dry it..Or use a clothes iron, like they did in the 60s.But of course that would hurt your neck, leaning over a table or ironing board.
