What does? Australia was settled by Europeans from the First Fleet in 1788. Ned Kelly was born in 1855 after the end of transportation of convicts in NSW and Victoria and after the gold rushes in those colonies. He was hanged in 1880.

There is almost no connection with the settling of Australia, the area Kelly operated in was probably like Ohio at the same time. It was not a pioneer district and had not been since the 1840s or so. Kelly was just a local gangster with political ideas.
