Well i post this before the programme has even finished - how about the polish couple wanting to work here and raise a child in both Poland and Britain!!! Yea, the poles work but why is immigration always seen from an economic viewpoint?

First and main reason why people come here - money, they can make more. Im always confused at way a refugee comes all the way from zimbabwe - are all the countries between here and there war zones??

And as for all the immigrants from places like nigeria, yes they are educated, polite and hard workers but no wonder a lot of african countries are such s**t holes, all the decent intelligent people are leaving and coming here. By not letting them come here you'll be giving africa what it desperately needs - intelligent people. So what does that make me, a racist? If i want to help africa how can that be??

There are cultural groups that give more than others and yes, our economy would be damaged without a lot of them. But i wish they would please respect our culture by not bringing theres with them (ever been to tooting?)
Im just waiting to see the figures for the amount of indian people that go back to india because of it's impending prosperity. I think the indian government shouldn't let them back if they do try.

In the first place, did we need immigrants of any kind? After WW2, we were a united, very happy, crimefree British nation. Wherever we went in the UK we were among people just like ourselves: we all shared the same history and way of life. Had another threat to our country then occurred we would have again defended it, regardless of the cost. (This is no fantasy. I served for 5 years in the RAF in WW2 and came home to a beautiful country and nation.)

Today? We are no longer a united, happy nation. We are just a huge crowd of nondescript people, fragmented into racial and religious groups, kidding ourselves (with the help of Government legislation and brainwashing) that we can all weld together as a British nation. Perhaps we British are unique in natural instincts but such wide racial and cultural integration has not shown itself elsewhere in history.

If we had to conscript all the young men here again to down tools and fight for our country how would it go? OK! It would be a joke. Dissenters would exceed patriots.

I don't blame worldwide immigrants for flocking here to better themselves economically. I question our postwar Governments's motives for encouraging immigration. In history, they will be held to account if the country is wrecked by immigration.

I totally agree with you about anybody getting £33000 for sitting at home.( I am retired after 40 years at work without a break and without a claim of job seekers or any other benefit. My wife works full time, and together we do not get £33000)

He did say that 4 countries supplied immigrants to the city that put in more than the British.
They were Aussie,South African, American and Canadian.
He also said that the average Indian puts 14% more into the economy than the average Brit.
The countries that he singled out as non producers were Pakistan, Zim and some North African countries.
I am totally with anybody that says that benifits should be cut to anyone who won't accept work and if they can't find work, they should be given work by the local govt. to pay for their benefits. Garbage collection etc. If they don't accept this they lose the benifit
A non working person should only be able to claim for kids that they had whilst working.
This should apply to all unemployed British as well as others.
As far as the Polish couple were concerned. They both had top jobs and simply said that they would take the kid home for summer holidays so that it could see it's grandparents and see the country of it's parents birth. What they don't know is that if it is brought up here it won't be that interested when it grows up.

EDIT: The four countries that he mentioned that are such high earners in the city all come from countries with the same culture and even religion. This is why you never hear anyone cursing the four countries above.
These countries are also top of the list of countries that brits go to if they leave here.

I thought the programme was pretty balanced. Giving £33,000 a year to someone for not working (plus the cost of educating her kids, healthcare etc) is absolutely mad, but she's only doing what millions of unemployed and unemployable Brits are doing. The programme showed that some immigration can be good for the country; shutting the door and evicting everyone who's come in over the last 10 years isn't the answer (although it would be better than the current situation).

I agree with our man in bananas.
CONTROL is needed in the negative groups .
No other country would put it`s own people down in such unfair ways as we do.
Immigrants from UK that go to other countries help the economy of that country. They cannot go without money or get free health care ,new houses and money given etc.

this country does nothing to help itself. we let immigrants come and take as much money as they want from us without ever putting a penny back in. why don't we do what Australia does and use a points system which means people in who are going to benefit the country with a skill or trade will be given priority over people who just want to live off people who have payed tax and worked all their lives.

no wonder people are voting BNP, there the only people who mention doing anything about this growing problem.

The Nigerians can stay because they contribute a lot and we get a lot of crude oil from them. The price of oil would go through the roof world wide if they in turn stopped supplying the west.

Thats a joke. No one should be allowed to come here and claim £33,000 of British taxpayers' money.

I think working immigrants are needed here, without them well........then we will see hope UK copes, if they are not working and have come to *sponge" off government then it is wrong but that idea of how all immigrants are has come well and truly spun by right wingers, most of them are just here looking for work to support their family, to make a honest living, it's like allot of societies where they contribute allot but a small proportion gives them a bad name. But you cannot say that you do not get people from the UK people who "sponge" of the government and i am really quite sure that if it was the other way around, your country was not doing well, you could not get work there and you needed to feed your family and yourself you would immigrate and i know for sure you would be hurt if you met the same kind of discrimination that you are giving.

Oh and one last thing, on the subject of immigrants why are the immigrants from Britain who move to other countries in search of a easier more laid-back life or simply for a better climate and cheaper house prices never discriminated against? surely people should be showing more support for the people who immigrate to help their family..........?
I know who i would support.
