It really depends on which Browning you have. Some of them, such as the Superposed series, are pretty good collectors items, and some Citoris sell for $5,000 or more, depending on condition.

I have been a firearms consultant since 1968 (retired now) and JD does seem to have the best knowledge and references of the many I have seen on Answers. You might also post pictures so he can see some of the outside condition of the shotgun. That is an important item that he will need to give a accurate appraisal.
The name and model should be on the barrel as well as the gage. Serial numbers will aways be on the frame. Also check the muzzle to see if there is some screw-in chokes which can add to the value.
Look in the barrel after double checking to be sure it is empty, and with a light at the breach end look for scratches or bulges in the barrels. Rust pits too will show up during this inspection. Check the stock and forearm for cracks and dents or scratches. All these things will tell a appraiser how to value the gun.

You can usually get a pretty good ballpark value by posting here. Every single thing printed on the shotgun is important, so look carefully in good light and write down all the information. Also, on a shotgun such as this a good description of any and all engraving, scrollwork, checkering, etc. is needed.

There are several people that appraise weapons
try checking with your local gun store and see if they can recommend someone to give you an appraisal.
My husband does appraisals for insurance companies and for friends at our Gun Club and he gets referrals from the local gun stores.

there are gun clubs that would know. you should google firearms clubs or something. my father used to be a part of one but he hasn't been involved with it for years. you could also google gunshows and the name of your town.
