As long as you are here legally, welcome to our country. If you want to stay, I can't say I blame you. Do it legally, please.

If you are currently in status then you sound like responsible citizen material. Responsible citizens follow the laws, file their paperwork on time and respect their host country. If that is you, then good luck! I'm pulling for citizenship.

IF, however, you came here legally...let your visa status expire and have been living illegally ever since, I take it all back. Those are the type of people we DON'T need as citizens.

(For the record...there are people without proper clothing or shoes and who go to bed hungry in America too. Appalachia has many very very poor people as do other parts of the country.)

That is a very personal decision. Public opinion has nothing to do with it.

Personally, I think, if you are committed in living in this country for life, you should make the committment and accept the rights and the responsibility that comes with the citizenship.

While some people make no distinctions, legal immigrants and illegal immigrants are totally different. Do what's right for you. The immigration law in this country provides for ones that respect the law and want to become part of the society.

Learn how to spell.

Life isn't easy here in Britain either.

There are many people sleeping under our bridges also.

Going without food as well.

If you REALLY want to become a U.S. citizen you will do it, - and the secret:

HARD WORK - no matter which country you are in.

America was built on immgration. As a whole, America welcomes immigrants. The current issues you are hearing/reading about refer to ILLEGAL immigrants. There is a big difference between immigrants and IILEGAL immigrants although some liberal organizations would have you beleive they are the same. If you like it here, then you shoudl become a citizen. Don't let the current immigration debate dissuade you.

I think you should go back to Brazil and start some political actions to transform your country so it won't be necessary for others to have such limited options. America didn't become the country it is today without the sacrifices of our fore fathers who fought and died to make it what it is today. Too bad other countries south of the border don't have the same dedication to improve the lives for their fellow countrymen by sacrificing some for the betterment of all.

I think you came here legally, and have every right to be here. I am glad you like it here and are doing well and abiding by the laws.

You would be welcomed as a citizen. If you want to make America your permanent home, I highly recommend it. And we would be lucky to have you. ;-)

You didn't cut in line and you followed every legal channel to come here legally. You deserve to be here. The ones I have a problem with are the ones who don't think the legal channels apply to them. This attitude from them has carried over into this country. they don't feel the laws or respect apply to them. You have shown respect to this country, so you deserve to be respected. I have no sympathy for the illegals, no matter how much they try to make themselves out to be the victims.

If you plan on being a productive member of society, working etc and not expecting the government to look after you, then yes, you should make your home in the US.

Welcome to America!

It will be up to you if you decide to stay and help us here or maybe you will want to go back to Brazil and work on improving things there. Either way I wish you well and am confident you will bring success to anyplace you are.
