Yes I have.......and I still do.

When it's right.....and it's from the Lord.....He will confirm it in your heart as well as through other convincing sources.

It's amazing how the Lord works and still speaks to us.

When you pray, you are carrying on a conversation with God. Tell Him everything that bothers you and remember to thank Him for all He has given you.
That being said, He will not necessarily give yo an answer right away. Don't expect a big thundering voice fom the sky, but pay attention to the events happening in you life. He will respond by giving you opportunities (or removing what you think are opportunities). It may take months or longer, but His concept of time and ours are not the same. He will do what is right for you when He decides it's time. Then you'll look back on it and you'll clue in. That's such a cool feeling when that happens!

There are two keys for knowing God's will for a given situation (1) Make sure what you are asking for or considering doing is not something the Bible forbids. (2) Make sure what you are asking for or are considering doing will glorify God and help you grow spiritually. If these two things are true and God still is not giving you what you are asking – then it is likely not God’s will for you to have what you are asking for. Or, perhaps you just need to wait a while longer for it. Knowing God’s will is sometimes difficult. People want God to basically tell them what to do – where to work, where to live, who to marry, etc. Romans 12:2 tells us, "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - His good, pleasing and perfect will."

God rarely gives people that direct and specific of information. God allows us to make choices regarding those things. The only decision God does not want us to make is the decision to sin or resist His will. God wants us to make choices that are in agreement with His will. So, how do you know what God’s will is for you? If you are walking closely with the Lord and truly desiring His will for your life – God will place His desires on your heart. The key is wanting God’s will, not your own. “Delight yourself in the LORD and He will give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4). If the Bible does not speak against it, and it can genuinely benefit you spiritually - then the Bible gives you the "permission" to make decisions and to follow your heart.

I pray to God. I do it very often, I pray to God a lot, especially at late night when I lie in my bed and cannot get asleep because I am bothered by so many problems. Instead of just studying the blank hardly visible ceiling above and ever indulging in the fanciest dreams and reveries, I pray to God. I could choose to chant a long litany of bla, bla, bla, or sing a song, or start doing a lot of intense breathing exercises, but I prefer most to silently pray. That's what I prefer to do, that's the habit that I have always had.

I pray God to help so that nothing bad should happen to all those people who are so dear to me. I pray God to help me save money, to keep my foes away from me, to give me peace and to make me sleep.

When I cannot relax and sleep I start praying the prayers that I learned by heart in my young age. I decide to mostly pray the same prayer three times, and then three times more, and then three times more ... until I lose my consciousness.

I pray a lot to God about other matters that you may not have imagined of in your question. I pray God to to help me so that I may succeed in getting my car repaired for a reasonable amount of money. God knows that I fear my mechanic more than I fear my medical doctor. And God has just helped me by convincing me to wait until another day before I drive my car to the mechanic. God has told me that it is worth for me to wait as long as the car goes in a tolerable way. And God has even added something to this that I had never heard of or thought of before, that "a real strong soul leaves for tomorrow that which he would very much like to do today".

As you see, God indeed gives good help, even to an old alien fox like me. And God doesn't really expect much from me, He doesn't even want me to become more astute. He just gives help to me. He just expects that I am good, just in my own way of being good.

And you know, I also believe that when upon my own death my soul will walk up to Heaven's holy huge Gate, there the all-knowing diligent helpers of Saint Peter will welcome me and will allow me to come further blisfully on the ever glowing path towards God's perennial and dazzling nearness.

Yes. Sometime he responses through other people, and sometimes he speaks directly to me during my quiet time. A lot of time He answers, but it's not what we're looking for so we ignore it and get upset that He hasn't answered us yet when all along it was just us not being open.
Look in the Bible at all the different ways he spoke to people.
Pray for discernment in knowing the truth.

I have learned that it is just good to ask God to provide what He intends to provide. Occasionally I ask for something specific like for my children to be healed and things like that but always in accordance with His will.

Did, do and always will. He is my guide, He answers through anything He pleases, all is in His control. He can answer through people, signs, t.v., anything. Don't put limits on Him, And you will know your answer because He will constantly display it. But make sure it goes along with the Bible.
Take care and may God bless you spiritually.

The most direct way was: lightning striking one foot away from me. That certainly got my attention.

Sometimes there is a pattern. The devil gives me a first option, and then God's blessing calls next. He sometimes tests you, and sees if you are 'in tuned' to Him. He wants us to be spiritually discerning.
