Take manual for said printer/scanner.
open it (might be a file on the CD)
Read it, especially the bit about scanning and saving a file

Attach this file to an email, address email, add message send.

Open a demat account anywhere you like. They will help you out. Such an organization is called DP. It could be any broker or even a bank. The account should be on the name of your mother and your brother (if both of them are alive). Then get the dematerialization form from the organization, where you have opened the demat account. With the form, attach the share certificates and the death certificate of your father. Then your DP will take care of everything. After some days, you might also receive a letter from SBI saying that the signature of your mother and/or your brother doesn't match with their records. But in that case, you will also receive (in the same letter) what you should do. They will ask you to get the signature attested by your bank manager, or they can even ask for a notary's certificate. Do as they say. Right now, you just need to send these shares for demat.

When you scan it, the scan wizard will ask you where you want to save it and what you want to name it. Specify name and location and it will scan your paper into .jpg format (probably). When you email, select the attachment button (paperclip) and go to the directory and click on the name of the file you just saved. Hit OK and send your email.

as Dragonlady said but make sure you save it in .jpg/jpeg format as a lot of people have problems opening .bmps (forums and the like).
