I just came up with a thought that it may get along pretty well with walnut cakes, mixed fruit cakes and banana cakes...

Oh yes, how can I forget... chocolate cakes with a hint of dates would be lovely!

Anyone?

The Bon Marche (now called Macy's) in Seattle, Washington used to serve their chicken salad on Date Nut Bread. It was to die for! It did have the walnuts in it and was very good.

Dates are good just plain, but your ideas sound real good. My fave is a Date milk shake. As a matter of fact I'll be in Indio, CA. this Fri. "The Date capitol of the world".

At times when I boil soups, I will add some dates in. Sometimes I even add it in my hot water and drink it from there too. It is pretty sweet and refreshing too. Even Cantonese sweet dessert soups, also use dates as one of the ingredients.
