**fresh pumpkin pie** (this is a good one)
INGREDIENTS
1 medium sugar pumpkin
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch single crust pie
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt
4 eggs, lightly beaten
1 cup honey, warmed slightly
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
DIRECTIONS
Cut pumpkin in half, and remove seeds. Lightly oil the cut surface. Place cut side down on a jelly roll pan lined with foil and lightly oiled. Bake at 325 degrees F (165 degrees C) until the flesh is tender when poked with a fork. Cool until just warm. Scrape the pumpkin flesh from the peel. Either mash, or puree in small batches in a blender.
In large bowl, blend together 2 cups pumpkin puree, spices, and salt. Beat in eggs, honey, milk, and cream. Pour filling into pie shell.
Bake at 400 degrees F ( 205 degrees C) for 50 to 55 minutes, or until a knife inserted 1 inch from edge of pie comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack

Her system's a mess - not your fault - but she's in a strange place, just whelped a litter, she's being given a change in food (that alone causes diarrhea & you're mixing two foods together), maybe she ate too many placentas. Since she's nursing, you really can't fast her which is what would normally happen. Stop mixing her food. If the dry food's a good quality, she will eat it if she hungry. But, take her off dog food for a day and feed her NOTHING but white rice boiled with either chicken or lean hamburger. Give her 3 - 4 small meals a day, making sure she's also drinking plenty of water. The next day, start re-introducing the dog food with the rice mixture - slowly - and keep feeding her 3 - 4 times a day for several days. And yes, she should be getting plain, canned pumpkin several times a day - it helps firm up the stool. Depending on her size, she could get a tablespoon or 2, 3 - 4 times a day.

Libby's canned pumpkin has a easy recipe. They actually make the pumpkin in a can with all the spices and you just add the egg and evaporated milk and mix. You put into a pie crust and bake it. Yummy!
