I quit listening to Cat Stevens because he stopped writing and performing music when he became a Muslim. Let's be clear about this, it was Cat Stevens who gave up on his fans when he got religion, not the other way around. I certainly don't change the station when one of his oldies happens to come up on the radio, but I doubt I'll ever spend my hard-earned money on him again. Religion sucks genuine creativity right out of musicians. Take a look at Christian-rock. The only people who buy that tripe are Christians first and music lovers second. If Cat Stevens wants to resurrect his music career, he'll need to learn to sing in Arabic.

No. They can do what they want. I like a few songs by Cat Stevens. I think that they are nice songs which were well done and actually that one song is rather iconic in a way.

But to associate with Muslims as in accepting it turns many peoples stomachs. Islam is giving itself a bad name, and until people who are Muslim fight against those violent people, we will always express antipathy towards all Muslims.

They deserve it because they enable each other to kill people, without any organized effort to re educate those violent ones. To me, that's a fault of ALL Muslims. They try to re educate us when they are the ones who need rehabilitation or death.

I don't know where people get their "facts" from but Cat Stevens aka Yusuf Islam is not a radical muslim or a terrorist..he was once shortlisted as one due to suspision only on the basis of his name..there were also rumours of him issuing a fatwa against Salmsn Rushdie, but this too he confirmed as being a false statement.in fact, he has been awarded several peace prizes and related honors..Stevens stopped producing music after he was misled to believe that it was against the Islamic faith, but now, after confirming that it is in fact ok, he has released several albums..i think it was that gap in releasing a new album that resulted in his popularity declining, while there are others too who stopped because he converted..

i grew to become into very unhappy, no longer because of the fact he grew to become a Muslim, that could have made me unhappy, yet no longer very unhappy. The very got here in while he stated he might help in killing Salman Rushdie. I observed it stay, and can basically wish he has because of the fact that recanted, yet what he does now could be deny he stated it. according to possibility he fears Islamic reprisal is he admits he stated it and now regrets it. As to his song, i think Cat Stevens died in a fashion, so can nonetheless pay attention and sense what he as quickly as grew to become into and could be back while all comes good.

It is not because he is a Muslim. It is because he is one of those radical Muslims. That is my reason. I used to like him, and I have his music, but not anymore. It is not stupid, it is just people change their taste in music. There is nothing wrong with that.

Muhammad Ali, is a convert Muslim. I meet him, and I like him. But not Stevens. just my opinion.
Omar El Sheriff is another.
I can name many good Muslims. Stevens or Y. Islam is not one of them.

Think of it this way. He converted to Islam in the seventy, and just recently he is being viewed negatively. Ever wondered why! I would like to know the answer as well. Just because he converted to Islam, doesn't make him an angel, and he can be one of the radicals. Just like any other person. Everything is possible. I chose not to get his music. It is better than calling a fatwa on his head for writing or singing something I don't care for. Isn't better that way!

Many Christian bookstores stopped selling King's X CDs after their bassist Doug Pinnick came out of the closet. This in spite of the fact that King's X had NEVER claimed to be a Christian band.
