If you are having a sleep over, I would say, try doing a chocolate fondue, or chocolate dip. You could have all sorts of candy and pretzels and fruits. All the prep work is done before anyone gets there and you can have as much or as little as you want. Sound like you are going to have lots of fun!

Here are two cake recipes for you that are very good. Both start out with boxed yellow cake mix but go their own way from there. One doesn't have a name but the other one does.

CAKE WITHOUT A NAME (I did the recipe)

1 box yellow cake mix
ingredients called for on the box
1 can fruit (your choice but the ladies I make this for like the pears the best)
Powdered sugar (about 2 cups sifted)

Drain the juice in the can into a measuring cup. Blend the fruit until it's in small pieces - not pureed.

Start to make your cake, using the juice from the can in place of some of the water. Add water if there isn't enough to equal what is called for in the recipe. Mix the recipe by the package directions and just before pouring it into the cake, add half the can of fruit to the cake mix and stir until incorporated. Pour into your pan and bake by the package directions. About 5 minutes before the cake is to come out of the oven, pour the rest of the fruit into a skillet. Dump in the sifted powdered sugar and stir. If the sugar stays thick and is obvious in with the fruit, add some water to it until it is thin. Heat it until the powder goes clear and everything is warm. As soon as you take the cake out of the oven, poke holes in it with the pointy side of the meat thermometer. Spoon the icing over the cake until it covers it. It will be very watery looking - don't worry - it will set. Cool the cake. The hot glaze on the hot cake will hold in the moisture of the cake and make this very very moist. You are finished now if you just want the glaze. If you want something snazzier, then take a carton of Cool Whip and spread it over the cake. Done!

This second recipe is heavier but very good. If you like pumpkin pie, you'll love this one.

STREUSEL PUMPKIN DESSERT

Crust:
1 1/2 c flour
1/4 c sugar
1/4 c powdered sugar
1/2 c cold butter

STREUSEL Topping:
1/4 c brown sugar
2 T flour
1 tsp cinnamon
2 T cold butter
1 c chopped pecans

FILLING:
1 large can pumpkin (not pumpkin pie filling)
1 c sugar
1/3 c brown sugar
1/4 c cornstarch
3 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp salt
1 tsp ginger
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp cloves
2 (12 oz) cans evaporated milk
4 eggs
Whipped cream and additional cinnamon

For the crust: Combine flour and sugars. Cut in the butter until crumbly. Press it into a sprayed 13x9" pan. Bake in preheated 350º oven 15-20 minutes.

For the Streusel: In a small bowl combine brown sugar, flour and cinnamon. Cut in the butter until crumbly. Stir in the pecans and set aside.

For the Filling: Combine the sugars, cornstarch and seasonings. Gradually beat in the can of pumpkin, evaporated milk and eggs until smooth. Pour over the crust. Sprinkle with the Streusel topping. Bake in preheated 350º oven 55-65 minutes or until a knife comes out clean. Cool on a rack. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Garnish with whipped cream and additional cinnamon.

(you can make both of these cakes the day before your sleep-over so you don't have to worry about it that day.)
