Hi I was wondering if anyone knows anything about eating pork, as my husband and I quit eating pork a long time ago. I had heard and it makes sense that pork is full of parasites and is not to good for you.. Well the other day we went out for breakfast and I ate one piece of bacon wow I had some really bad stomach cramps after that for awhile during the day then it went away..I heard that if you eat pork and stop for at least 30 days and eat it again that you could get really sick. I was just wondering how true this might be and if that is maybe what happend.?

There is nothing wrong with pork. The most important thing is that it must be cooked properly. If you don't that is where the risk of parasites come in.
You may have gotten sick at the breakfast place from poor general hygiene practices of the restaurant as opposed to the pork itself.

Complete load of tosh and piffle. All meat can have parasites/bugs/microbes - these are on the surface of fresh meat, and are soon killed in the cooking process (reheated meat is different, as new bugs landing on the meat as it cools can go in deeper and will reproduce as long as the meat is warm enough, which is why stews etc prepared for freezing should be frozen quickly and reheated thoroughly).

The bacon incident could be due to an intolerance to certain preservatives, e.g. nitrates. Quite a lot of bacon is injected with nitrates and these can change in chemical composition when the bacon is cooked, especially if it is coked and then kept warm under heat lamps for too long.

The essential for all meats is that, if they are roasted, they will need to be thoroughly cooked on the outside - searing the joint first on the hob is a good idea. This kills the germs. Steaks, chops etc should be seared on a high flame on both sides - the flame can then be reduced until the food is cooked to the desired extent. Meat products prepared from minced (ground) meats must be thoroughly cooked right through, as germs can be transferred to the centre when the rissole/burger/pattie is made.

Well, I have been eating pork pretty much my whole life, maybe once every few weeks and have never had a problem with it. Maybe what it is instead of the pork, it could be the way it was cooked. If you had bacon, it could be the grease that is making you sick. Maybe try a nice lean piece of pork and marinate it and then grill it. It is a healthy and delicious way to eat pork in my opion. Good Luck!

fools believe the USDA FDA and CDC have nothing to do with the quality of the FOOD we all eat.
You and I can not see their work unless we see them on TV or the bright purple stamp of USDA BEST or PRIME
that usually gets trimed off as excess fat..

As for your story I think it is psychotic.
There are tons of pork products and millions of people who eat it daily.
Your reaction had to be mental.
I'de find new friends there is nothing better than BBQ pork ribs.. OR roast ham.
The may live in the muck but it IS NOT in the meat.
only a fool would make an association.

Pork is the best meat, we had a great basting joint yesterday and I'm eating up the leftovers tonight. I made extra crackling.

Anyone who has any contact with any food production knows there is no such thing as 100% safe food. The worst poisoning I ever had was from rice.

In the old days, here in the UK, we had to be very careful when cooking pork. These days though, it is a safe as houses, it really is, you don't have to cook it to death, like in the old days. It is a very good product and deserves more people to know this.

I'm not one for eating pork either. However in your case, the meat done well or not that's not it. Your case is a situation of your body not having that substance in it for a while and "readjusting'.
