Most rodents don't normally need baths & it wouldn't be a good idea to bathe a mouse or hamster unless he had gotten into something & spot-cleaning wasn't sufficient. The little guys could get hurt, or frightened enough to bite, or stressed enough to become ill. They could also inhale some water, which wouldn't be good for them either.
We do bathe our guinea pig when he gets funky, as well as our male rats (the girls usually stay very clean by themselves). Actually, they get more of a gentle shower than an actual bath, & I hold them securely but gently in 1 hand & work quickly with the other. Their feet are supported on my wrist so they feel secure.

I don't think any rodents should have baths as in baths with water. Rodents are fairly clean and can most sort out there own cleanliness problems. Hamsters and chinchillas and gerbils ( i think gerbils) can use chinchilla sand not dust tho that makes them go funny or something. You just put some in a corner of the cage or a special box or holder or something like that and the hamster or gerbil or whateva will roll around in it and get a nice shiny pretty coat.
Hope that answered your question :)

Most rodents are desert animals and do not need baths. If you find that your rodent needs a bath it probably means you are not keeping the cage clean enough. Rodents are like cats, they will clean themselves.
Giving a rodents a bath could kill them. They can get a chill and die. I don't know about g.p, but chinchillas get dust baths, as well as degus. No other rodent, gerbil, rat, hamster, etc needs a bath.

Hey, guinea pigs and chinchillas ARE rodents.
If you mean wet baths, so: generally, small animals are prone to catch cold (even pneumonia) when they get wet. For some of them it is very stressful.
I know baths are a big no-no for degus, chinchillas, hamsters and gerbils: these animals can have only sand baths (in chinchilla sand).
I have heard that guinea pigs and rats are able to bath in water sometimes and even it's benefical, but I can't cornfirm it: I haven't these animals so I don't much research about them.

I don't think you should give any rodents baths. They are all too small and baths could hurt them. They just clean themselves. But to be sure, why don't you ask your vet or someone at a pet store and find out. Good luck!

Bathing rodent's are not required, unless they get into something, or they simply stink. I bathe my rats every once in awhile. Its safe. I use SuperPet brand Critter Shampoo (can be found at Petsmart) and hot water. I dry them off and keep them wrapped up until mainly dry and keep drafts off of them.

I give my rats bathes, although they don't like it much, they can become used to bathes and even enjoy them.
When you first put them in the bath, they will be scared, but they get used to it.
Remember to get the water just right, it has to be not too hot and not too cold, and don't make them stressed.
Good Luck!
