Nuns have different orders doing mostly service work. They work with orphans,, education, helping in social areas. In the past they have been known to be used for sex by the priests so that neither would have to get married. There is ample proof of this even though the Catholics never like to talk about their dysfunctional system of church.

Nuns can do just about anything. Some are called to contemplative live (like in a convent) but others are teachers, chaplains, work for non-profits, heath care field, etc.
i have a friend who is a nun and she lives with a couple other nuns and she is going for her masters degree in social work.
...
Their calling is to do their job in _conversation_ with their order and the church.

Nuns do many different things. My wife's aunt is a nun and is a school teacher. The Little Company of Mary and the Sisters of the Resurrection are two orders that run hospitals, medical clinics and nursing homes. There are many more orders also.

Nuns do a number of things. There are teaching orders, nursing orders, scholars and just about any other thing that women can do within a VERY draconian religious structure.
I went to Grade School with the Sisters of Loretto but my high school was run and taught by the Jesuits.

Nuns are communities of women who decide the willing women who join them and they must hold obedience to the local parish priest and the local bishop.
They can do many works congruent with the teachings of the Catholic Church; however they usually focus on teaching.
I benefited from five nuns who taught me. Four of them were the four best teachers I had. I also had two marines who taught me and I rank them as five and six. The nuns were tougher than the marines. Notably two nuns and a very good priest taught me Darwin's theory of Evolution in ever increasing degrees of complexity. One nun who played a guitar pulled my ear once, but I deserved that for smacking the kid next to me in the lunch line.

they do alot look at peole like mother theresa who obvioulsy started out as a nun.
Nuns are like priests they spread the word, they do things like the rosary services and things like that as well.
I'm sure they do alot more than just charity, mission work, and rosary services too.
They do have a calling like a preist to serve and devote their life to the lord and to spreading the word of God to people.

Nuns and Sisters are totally cool!
They see Christ as their Bridegroom, and serve Him by serving the world as teachers, nurses, missionaries, etc.
Their lives are devoted to prayer and service to God.

Religious sisters are not really married to Jesus but the phrase does reflect their total dedication to God.
The religious state is thus one way of experiencing a "more intimate" consecration, rooted in Baptism and dedicated totally to God.
In the consecrated life, Christ's faithful, moved by the Holy Spirit, propose to follow Christ more nearly, to give themselves to God who is loved above all and, pursuing the perfection of charity in the service of the Kingdom, to signify and proclaim in the Church the glory of the world to come.
There are actually more religious sisters (776,269) in the world than priests (405,450), deacons (31,524), and religious brothers (54,620) put together.
