If God were real, it would not require a leap of faith to believe. We would all simply know God as an element of fact. Wouldn't it be acknowledged as real, just as real as the sun and the moon to all of humanity?
It serves no purpose for the creator of all to set limitations on it's acceptance or test faith. "ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God", means every human being is unworthy of it's Creator. It's this selfhate doctrine that damages humanity. There is a road to acceptance but it is narrow and paved with blood. ie. salvation.
How can it be the way, the TRUTH and light? The TRUTH is factual. Belief in God has no basis in fact. Believers are expected to do so by faith alone. Truth and scrutiny are discouraged by believers. The dark ages I fear, never really left us.
Let's all do a critical examination of religion, its history, culture and subculture. The truth is a bitter pill but necessary if we are ever to progress as species.

I'm a former Christian and as such forced myself to believe all the implausible things that makes religion holy to many. I had to suspend rational thinking to embrace superstitious doctrine. Why should any right thinking person have to do that in order to know their creator?
The same Bible that makes you believe, caused me to seek truth and abandon delusion.

God should be a KNOWN FACT, not some esoteric thing that only exists for believers.

Shouldn't the existence of God as irrefutable as the earth beneath my feet?

If a being powerful enough to create the entire universe actually existed within our physical reality, He would be impossible to miss -- especially with our current technologies. The fact that God's never been objectively observed is a giant clue that He doesn't actually exist within the physical realm. If God were actually worthy of human worship, His existence would be as obvious as the Sun or the Moon. The fact that all religions require believers to rely on unsubstantiated faith proves such religions are seriously disconnected from objective reality. Given mankind's current understanding of how physical reality actually operates, only the First Amendment prevents modern churches from being legally prosecuted for the egregious and willful fraud they necessarily perpetrate.

Either PROVE IT or back off. Everyone has the right to believe what she or he chooses. You have NO right to try to change a person's beliefs. How would YOU like it if your friend tried to convince YOU that there is no god and that you should become an atheist??? You wouldn't like it too much, would you? Well, this is the same thing. Back off jack. Unless you can actually and totally PROVE your case, you need to back WAY off. Lady Morgana

It's quite curious that when people feel the holy spirit and whatnot, they have to lower their standarts of critical thinking to interpret a feeling as being a divine penetration.
And this lowering is seen as virtuous.
And when having an argument this is what the 'virtue' does:
When you're agured agaisnt, it's a test, god acting through people.
When the argument is convincing, deep down there, it's going to be Satan whose having the control.
It's disturbingly amazing what faith does to the human mind.

No, because people's hearts are stubborn, and they wouldn't believe even if they saw a miracle.
The Bible says, "Luk 16:29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
Luk 16:30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.
Luk 16:31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead."
Abraham here is saying that if the [rich man's brothers] would not even listen to the prophets or Moses, then they won't even believe even if they witnessed a miracle.
I have seen evidence of this right here on this board. I once asked a question here of atheists if they knew of anyone who had a terminal illness or a permanent injury or disease, and were miraculously healed 100% overnight, would they believe that it came from God? Their answers were almost unanimous - they would not. They would try to rationalize the "miracle" by saying that the person was not really terminal, that they were misdiagnosed, and that such a thing could never happen. They are just as stubborn as those about whom Abraham was speaking.
Even Jesus Himself said, "Mat 16:4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed." So this "wicked and adulterous" generation of today ask God for a sign, but they wouldn't believe it even if they saw it, so God will not send them one. Why waste His time?

There are several problems with your question. You are forgetting that there is an adversary called the devil who does not want us to become enlightened to the truth that sets us free from his bondage. Consider all the things we have come to accept as normal that may not be. Fear, doubt, confusion, regret, guilt, grief, hate, jealousy, etc. These are gifts from the ruler of this world, aren't they just lovely? God sent us two perfect gifts for the purpose of guiding us to the truth about Him. Jesus and The Holy Spirit. If you listen carefully to them you will hear a different message than the one preached by the christians. Look for the true message of salvation in the garden of eden, not the n.t. gospels.

There is that niggly little built in fail safe device in most religions. Faith.
In order to see god, you must first accept him. So as an Atheist I can never 'see' god because I do not accept him as my savior.
Convenient, no?

"Fact" is what we perceive as being consistent. But who says what we perceive is real? Have you ever looked into quantum physics? String theory? There is a fine line between religion and science. They both improve our lives and reveal truth, but they both also limit us.

Yes. Don't you just love it when anything they cannot logically explain becomes a "test" of faith?

Yes Faith is required,,it is in the bible...If you do not want to seek Him,,there is nothing anyone can do...I know without a doubt if you believe that Jesus did die for the sins of men and believe it in your heart,,your eyes will be opened and your ears will hear the things God has planned for you and His people..
You have to believe with your heart and not with your mind,,your mind wants reason,,your heart desires truth..
