Anti-war liberals, how did this happen? Is the surge working? Are we winning the war in Iraq?

What's the bad news?

Chris,
The story is from the AP. Does the Associated Press lie to us? I thought anti-war liberals would DENY it, because it's good news, and it points out HOW WRONG YOU ARE.

To them, the fact that we are winning the war and the surge is working IS the bad news.

Summer, being really, really hot, tended to have lower numbers -- except last summer.

The month before last, causalties were also unusually high. So they are comparing last month to really inflated death rates.

Also, there's always a lot of ups and downs in such things.

Finally, yesterday saw a really high death rate due to some concerted attacks, leading me to believe that, while preparing for those big attacks, they slowed down a bit.

So, no, the surge isn't working, certainly not for Iraq as a whole, only in small areas (so the violence moves away from the areas we've been concentrating on).

The bad news is that about a million people have been killed for no good reason, cholera is becoming epidemic because we destroyed their means of getting clean water, tens of thousands have been tortured and raped by us, millions are homeless, millions more have fled, and the political situation is as bad as ever.

Women dare not leave their homes without being completely covered and accompanied by a male relative (which was NOT the case before we invaded). Children are kept home from school because their parents fear for their lives.

Unemployment is -- I don't know what, exactly, but high. Really high.

Kurdistan is starting to experience increasing violence, and it looks like more countries in the region are being drawn in.

No one has any faith in the Iraqi government.

We can't win this war; that's one of the reasons every human being on the planet with a hint of a clue opposed it in the first place.

Why do you so strongly approve of mass murder and the destruction of an entire country? Have you no humanity whatsoever?

Sorry, THAT was a silly question!

Don;t you think that using the word "liberal" to describe the 80 percent of the country that is against the occupation of Iraq is a bit misleading? Everyone is against the war except for a few right wing extremists.

I don;t think that anyone will be upset if the surge works (except for Bush who would then have no reason not to withdraw the troops). It still seems unlikely. Every military expert said that the surge would not work, but even the experts are wrong sometimes. I guess when you gamble with other peoples lives, sometime it pays off.

It still doesn't justify the war. There were still no WMDs, no connection between Iraq and 9/11, the US is still heavilly in debt, there are still 4000 US soldiers dead and 300,000 Iraqi civilians, and we still have a mess there that will take many decades to clean up.

That is, assuming that the surge works. Considering that the surge failed every one of the benchmarks, it seems unlikely that things suddenly turned around.

As a crunchy con allow me to say that one life lost is one life way too much.
But lets correct the figures on this thing right now. If you watch the left winged wackos on the McLaughlin Group et al or other network shows they will tell you we have lost close to 4000 American lives in Iraq. OK I agree. But just stating these figures in and of itself it a lie intended to mislead you.

The true death toll in the War against Islamo Fascism is closer
to 6 or 7 thousand. First of all there are the 3000 people that died at the WTC. The people that died in the Airline crashes in NY, Penn, and DC. The Navy personnel that died on the USS Cole. The Marines that died in Beirut when Reagan was President. Those that died in the Embassies. I'm not even taking into account all the people that have died in Israel because those idiot Islamo Fascists refuse to allow the only democracy in the Middle East ( Israel ) live in peace.
Then of course there are the people who died in Bali and Indonesia. You get the picture. The death toll is sky high and it will only stop when Islamo Fascism is totally squashed like a bug.

And another thing. Like Dr. John Hagee said, the Muslims in
America have stated they do not approve of terrorism, or so they say. BUT THERE SILENCE IS DEAFENING!!

Liberals are idiots.

Talking to a liberal is like telling a two year old child they are not allowed to have a candy bar at the supermarket. They'll cry, throw themselves to the ground, bang their fists, cry some more, and even say "I hate you".

I love that you provided the link to fox news website. The liberals go crazy just by seeing "fox" and have no clue what is fake other than spitting out the same old rhetoric they are used to hearing. They don't understand when you click on a news article and it says "AP, UPI, Reuters, etc." that it is coming from a news service, not the local writers at Fox news.

They also hate drudge report and claim everything is fake on their but Drudge is about 99% links to legitimate news websites.

Liberals = Idiots

a few days ago a key al-quieda leader was killed and a message was obtained supporting the eviedence that al quieda is falling, and are running low on members and supplies. did you know that al quieda has been tricking people to go to certain places with vehicles and not telling them that bombs are attached. they are running low on suicide bombers and have been reduced to tricking people to do it. I read that on google news about 1 week and 3 days ago.

We are Not winning in Iraq yet - but we are Not losing either.

maybe we can get back to the real war on terror soon.

YAY!! Fewer people have been needlessly killed!!
Decapitations are down 35%!!
Baiting murders err.. kills are up 47 1/2%!!
Prisoners complaining about their torture is at an all time low!!
How is this a positive?

Also, you are siting Fox news. That would be like if I sited a article from MoveOn.org, you wouldn't believe it, so I'm not believeing this either.

I love all the Fox News disparagers. They never seem to check for the fact that it is an AP story that was just run on Fox News. It's also on the Yahoo front page, and I'm sure it's on all the major news sites too. Heaven forbid they actually say, "Hey, that's good new to hear."

You got that from Fixed News? Why am I not surprised. There's an old saying: "If you plunge a knife six inches into my back and pull it out three inches, that's not progress!" As long as Americans are dying for Bush's lies, something must change. Get them out of Iraq and send them to fight a REAL war on terror.
