Here are a few tips:
1. You MUST exercise if you want to lose weight and keep it off, so do something every day, even if it’s just a 15-minute walk around the neighborhood. Don’t say you don’t have time for exercise; you have to MAKE time. Yes, it takes time and effort, but you’re worth it, right?
2. Walk as much as you want, but don’t do cardio for more than 40 minutes at a time. If you do, you risk burning muscle instead of fat.
3. If you do strength training, use light weights and do lots of repetitions. That’ll really help you “tone up.”
4. Your diet will make you or break you. You have probably learned bad eating habits over time (most people do). That’s not your fault, but now you have to deal with it. Make a commitment to yourself to unlearn those bad habits and re-learn better habits.
5. Eat breakfast every day within an hour of getting up. People who don’t are 450% more likely to be overweight.
6. Eat six small meals or snacks per day instead of three squares per day or one big meal per day. Your body expends energy digesting your food, so eating smaller portions more often keeps your metabolism running high because you’re constantly digesting food.
7. Avoid these as much as possible:
-- Trans fat (any type of partially or fully hydrogenated oil)
-- High fructose corn syrup (soft drinks are LOADED with it)
-- Fast food
-- Junk food
-- White sugar, white flour, white rice, white potatoes
-- The deadly C’s (cookies, cakes, candy, chips, cola)
8. Build your diet around these trim-body-friendly foods:
-- Nuts, any kind (almonds are best)
-- Beans/Legumes
-- Fresh vegetables (green is GREAT!!!)
-- Dairy products (as long as they’re low-fat or non-fat)
-- Eggs
-- Lean meats (fish and poultry top the list)
-- Olive oil
-- Whole grain breads/cereals/pasta
-- Fresh fruits (anything that ends in “berry” is a winner)
-- Tea (green tea or black pekoe tea)
-- Cold water or ice water (your body has to expend extra calories to heat it up)
9. Desserts and treats are the exception, not the rule. Having said that, however, (1) you can have a couple of pieces of chocolate every day – just don’t overdo, and (2) Allow yourself one “cheat meal” every week where you eat and drink whatever you want as long as you don’t gorge yourself. That’ll help keep you from feeling deprived and it’ll make it easier to stick with your new healthy eating plan.
Good luck!

Don't try to lose it fast, fast. Within the year you'll put on even more than you lost. You don't want that, do you?
The best way to permanently lose weight is to try for about 4 pounds a month.
Actually, when you think about it, it isn't really WEIGHT you want to lose, but fat, right? If you increase your activity level, you'll lose fat and look slimmer, but you'll gain muscle, and possibly gain weight (or at least not lose weight).
So, increase your physical activity -- but do it in ways that you can stick with forever.
Cut back on fatty foods. Pick a few of the worst things you currently eat, and eat them only once in a while, and not very much at a time.
Increase the amount of healthy stuff you eat.
Do NOT starve yourself, or do those extreme diets. Almost everyone who does that stuff ends up with more fat soon after they stop the diet.
Just be reasonable.
Up your intake of plant-life, and reduce your intake of fats. Eat veggies, complex carbohydrates, and fruit.
Don't eat a lot of chips, cookies, and ice cream.
Go for walks; dance around the house; take stairs; park your car further away from stores.

Okay...I only started five Mondays ago and All I do is walk one hour every morning. I wear a calorie counter monitor to loose weight by the numbers. I have already lost two pant size and 27 pounds. I am a woman and have three kids and this is the method I use when I gain weight.. I am now at a size two and everyone is always amazed that I have had three kids. This is what I do below when I throw on a few extra pounds. It always works..No diet pills, no energy drinks..just me walking and getting the water I need. Of course I watch what I eat and the Lean Cuisine meals are great for that since the calories per box are 180 to 380 per box. Just make sure you eat healthy every three to four hours so your body will perform at its max.
Here it is:
Helpful Tips for weight loss:
1)A good way to loose weight is to use a calorie counter watch
Keep to a 1,200 food intake
Add 1,200 plus 3,500 (equals one pound of fat) ...and that is the total amount of calories you need to burn each day. Its actually really easy once you start watching the numbers and it doesn't seem like work or exercise. Its just a matter of changing the way you think about loosing weight.
I use this method when i gain some pounds. The first time I did this I went from 168 to 127
2) Most people do not get enough water in their system. Water is your body's principal chemical component, comprising, on average, 60 percent of your weight. Every system in your body depends on water. For example, water flushes toxins out of vital organs, carries nutrients to your cells and provides a moist environment for ear, nose and throat tissues.
Lack of water can lead to dehydration, a condition that occurs when you don't have enough water in your body to carry out normal functions. To determine if you are getting enough water use this simple formula.. Take your weight, for example 150 pounds and divide by 2. Take your answer which is 75 lbs and change it to ounces, in this case 75 ounces. That is how many ounces of water you need a day. Your body performs mostly on water. If you make sure you get enough water everyday your body will perform at top notch and your body will no longer have the cravings of junk food. You will have a better performing body system to help you work out and feel better thru out your day.

Well I have done the Master Cleanse Fast as a kick start to my diet. I do it for 2 weeks straight and I lose about 15-25 pounds.
After getting off the diet I change my old eating habits and I KEPT THE WEIGHT OFF!! I work out at the gym about 3-4 times a week. So the Master Cleanse does work for me.
Here is the receipe.
For a minimum of 10 days, drink:
2 Tablespoons (1 fluid ounce) fresh-squeezed lemon or lime juice (approx. ½ lemon),
2 Tablespoons (1 fluid ounce) organic Grade B maple syrup, not maple-flavored sugar syrup or syrup from companies that use formaldehyde to harvest their syrup
1/10 Teaspoon or more cayenne pepper (hot red pepper), and
1 Cup (8 fluid ounces) purified or spring water, NOT fluoridated water.
Drink six to twelve glasses of this lemonade mixture daily. No food is eaten nor any vitamin supplements taken during the cleanse. If you get hungry, have another glass of lemonade. After all, this is also called the "Lemonade Diet."
If you are overweight, you may use less maple syrup. If you are underweight, use more maple syrup if you wish.
Do not vary the amount of lemon juice per glass and be sure to drink at least six glasses of lemonade a day. You can drink more water, if you want.
As a reducing diet it is superior in every way to any other system because it dissolves and eliminates all types of fatty tissue. Fat melts away at the rate of about two pounds a day for most persons-and without any harmful side effects.
Yes, the lemonade diet is a reducing diet, but much more. People build strong, healthy bodies from the correct foods or they build diseased bodies from incorrect foods. When disease does become necessary, the lemonade diet will prove its superior cleansing and building ability.

Ouch. I can't believe you husband! Wowsers. That would hurt so bad. Like you don't know you've gained weight?
Anyway, what works for one may not work for another. I find for me that cutting out fats is essential. Luckily I love carbs so I can easily eat foods I love, I'll do whole grain toast with just a bit of jelly (no butter) or oatmeal for breakfast, air popped popcorn for a mid-morning snack, a baked tater with cottage cheese and a salad for lunch, fruit and yogurt mid-afternoon, and something like fish and rice for dinner and maybe a sugar free pudding or fudge bar for a snack. I walk a ton and do tiny weights. Usually can drop 15 pounds in 2 weeks this way, so when I find my weight creeping up, I start.
Figure out what you can't do without. For me it's crunchy/salty, so I make room for a handful of pretzels or come rice cakes, they are better than the chips I love and still satify my need for salty/crunchy.
Good Luck with the diet and even better luck with the husband, you'll need it.

there is no quick fix for that -you didnt gain weight overnight so you cant expect to lose it overnight as well.
if you are losing more than 1-2lbs a week which is healthy - its most likely not fat you are losing but only water weight and muscle which means you are also slowing down your metabolism and will gain it back and end up with higher body fat percentage.
find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 400-600cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day (have lots of veggies to eat in between meals if you are still hungry)
8 glasses of water -carry bottle of water with you and when you feel hungry drink it - we often confuse hunger with thirst (our bodies confuse it)
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have protein (lean meat, legumes etc) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio is the only fat burning exercise and burns fat all over your body (running, jogging, swimming, spinning, elliptical etc) 4-6 times a week for average of 45min, light weight training a few times a week (more muscle=faster metabolism)
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, pasta etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, ice cream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
of course you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Tea is without doubt a reduce calorie, fitter beverage than soda or juice. But apart from inexperienced tea, you must be worried with the quantity of meals you're consuming for the duration of the day. In different phrases, ingesting inexperienced tea is healthful, however what approximately the ice cream, potato chips, cookies, crackers, pies, muffins, and so on.. All the fairway tea on the earth won't make any change if those are the varieties of meals you're probably ingesting.
