Stock gears are not 3.55 or 3.73, those are performance axles and were used on the SVO's and Turbo Coupes and are popular swaps.

I also did not find anyhthing at the link offered above,

I'm thinking around 3.20s, but will keep looking... you might find it in your owners manual or call your Ford parts man, and he can look it up, just give him your vin number. There were several, 2.73, 3.08, 3.27, 3.45 and 3.73 the code is on the data plate on the drivers door.

Actually these don't mean much when you put in 5th gear, because it's overdrive. to get the final drive you have to multiply the axle ratio by the od ratio, ie, 0.75 X 3.0 = 2.25

don't go too high on the stall, keep it around 2500 the problem with converters is that the looser "higher stall" you go the less powerful it feels, the shifts will some less snappy and to move from a stop in daily driving gets annoying after a while. on the gears I would go with 3.73's since the car doesn't make amazing power and has ok torque down low and you wanna keep the rpms in your power-band, if you get to steep a gear it will be at rpms where there is no power. My advice when you put in the converter also add a Transgo shift kit and a transmission cooler because after installing a converter the tranny operates a lot hotter. God luck, and trust me , BTw I have a 94 5.0 with a 2800-3200 stall transgo shift kit and 3.73's
