(namely people who ask questions about Arron Carter) Seriously, if we are evolving, then shouldn't our intellect be increasing. Shouldnt we be super intelligent and not hvae idiots around since they should have died out when eaten by lions on the plains of Africa?

Unfortunately, people are not exposed to lions enough anymore. For the sake of the human race, we need to introduce unrestrained hungry lions to our cities and towns as soon as possible.

Evolution doesn't make things 'better' in the sense that they're closer to what you personally define as good. Idiots can and do reproduce, so natural selection isn't going to weed them out any time soon. And I imagine if you were to set a lion loose on one of your local idiots, he or she would be clever enough to run away.
Also intelligence is only 50-70% genetic, there are significant environmental factors.

lol. Humans have basically removed themselves from the effects of evolution. We've slowed it almost to nonexistance with the extreme technological state of our modern living.

Therefore idiots would still exist because there is no longer the "weeding out" of the stupid gene from the population. Now, even the stupid can survive. In the past, the would have been eaten by wolves before they were old enough to procreate.

Since the lions quit eating them, they produced, taught their offspring nothing new, then the psycho Catholics (of the middle ages and before) came along, turned everything backwards and I don't think we had another brilliant mind until the renaissance
(my somewhat opinionated rant ;-) )

We may be evolving still, but obviously survival of the fittest and adapting to the environment are not as effective in humans as in other species.

Yes, IF stupid people stopped procreating. Unfortunately, smart people are not the ones who are found attractive. Instead Britney Spears already has two kids.

In a hundred thousand years, the most retarded of our descendants will make Einstein look like a muppet.

evolution is not about intelligence but about random effects. kind of stupidity might very well be more successful in ways of propagating. sharks and flies are perfectly evolved.
