Interesting, but historically in war winning involved occupying territory with boots on the ground. Even armor and air support alone can't win you a war unless you control objectives and deny the enemy access to areas. FIST could be dangerous too -- 20,000 soldiers charging into an area? What's the plan if they start taking massive casualties?

That's what the stryker teams were ment to be, the only problem is they are too heavy for the job. The flight range (they were to be carried by cargo plane) ended up being half of what the generals wanted. That kind of takes "the best" equipment out of the equation. The force has to travel light to make it work. The U.S. does have paratrooper which means the men go in first and then the equipment.

That is basically the job desciption of a Marine MEU......
Even a 7 day op requires logistical support. How do you move that many troops? Are you going to start build liberty ships again? The Air Force's Airlift units can bearly do todays job.
