cute alone doesn't get you better tips. if you want to skate by on cute, you are better off as a cocktail waitress. bartending is hard work, you'll be expected to lug kegs, cases of drinks, wines, beers, etc. you have to set up the bar, restocking, cutting fruit (over time results in "bar rot" of fingers), clean shelves & bottles, wash glass ware, break down the bar, do inventory, fill out order sheets, and balance your cash drawer. you'll be making drinks for waiters, cocktailers, and your own customers, as well. if you are able to multi-task efficiently at high speed for at least 7-8 hours straight, with a smile on your face, while holding 5 conversations at the same time (with a manager, waiter, bar back, cocktailer, and customer), you might just make it as a bartender. good luck !!!

Here are some pointers on getting good bar tending tips:
1.Be nice to the customers always
2. If it is an establishment that allows smoking, make sure to empty the ashtrays once it gets to about 4 cigarettes.
3. Learn a little bit of bar flair. It doesnt have to be insane, just some little tricks (Lighting a match for someone's cigarette and sliding it down the bar without the match going out, doing a quick flip with the bottle without spilling any)
4. Remember what they are drinking, so when they are ready for a refill, you dont have to ask what they are drinking.
5. Consistency is key. No one likes a bartender who cant make the same drink twice. Make sure the drink tastes the same everytime it is ordered. A lot of bartenders have a problem with this.. One time they drink will be great, and the next time, they will short pour or over pour.
Following this advice is almost as sure way of getting great tips

Hate to say it but if you're well built up top, have a great smile, and can make great drinks quickly without screwing them up you will get good tips. Even if you're not that attractive (I'm sure you are), if you make a good drink that's on the stronger side rather than the weaker side...you'll do fine. What usually really gets the tips is when the bar offers to buy one every now and again. Not only that, but people will come back knowing that as well.
The new bar on my side of town has younger staff and they can't figure out why they don't get better tips because the place is always hoppin'....

Just being a good bartender, emptying out ash trays often, if you can smoke in the bar. I used the 1/2 full rule , to get another drink. Creating conversations at the bar while attending other patrons. Removing extra trash, bottles. I was a napkin/coaster person. I always made sure every drink in the house was on a coaster or a napkin.
Cute is only going to get you hit on more by drunks, but drunks hit on everything. Just being a good bartender, and giving customer service is the way to go.

Being attractive doesn't hurt, but the number one tip getter is good service. Nothing worse than having to wait a long time for a drink. Pay attention to your customers and never let them sit with an empty glass in front of them, unless it's by their choice.
I've stiffed very attractive bartenders who provided poor service.

Yes, if you are attractive you may get more tips...especially if you're a people person. When I used to bartend in Vegas...I used to make sure I knew about what was going on that day or night in the city or the best place to eat for cheap...tourists used to love that kind of info...My regulars tipped me because I always looked out for them...like keeping track of their keys (sometime not giving them back because they were too drunk), watching their drinks while they were in the bathroom, and sometimes helping them get numbers...it's all in a days/ nights work...LOL...good luck

Friendly and very outgoing. Don't sit back and wait for someone to ask, walk up to them and start talking. Be a little flirty but don't come off like you are trying to take them home.
And the cleavage is number 1. And a pair of pants that are tight and show off the butt. He will get a little drunk and want to keep your luscious cans near him all night so will keep ordering drinks and giving you tips.

honey, let me tell you something. Yes, you have a credit if you're cute.But,no.... if you're not an assertive, talk active and nice person, you won't have big tips.
It's not all abt looking, but it's all abt personality. Talk to the customers, make them happy, tell them funny stuff and call their names many often ( names are really important,so they feel they're treated special everytime they come to the bar. Remember their fave drinks before they order ).
Good luck!!
PS: I myself is a bartender plus owner in Cincinnati.Got lots of tips from customers .

efficient is the key word
a cute 'efficient' tender may get a better tip than a less attractive 'efficient' tender from men but women tip too.
a cute 'inefficient' bartender may salvage tips from men but less from women.
take care of business behind the wood and the customer will take care of you.
