It is ABSOLUTELY possible , and normal to experience pain after having a root canal. Believe me, I know, I've had 7 of them. Only with one did I not experience pain (that was a pleasant surprise :) If the pain you're having is only slight, consider yourself very lucky. However if it's been a week, it should be diminishing about now....the first few days were the worst for me.

It depends where the pain is and how bad. Sometimes, a small amount of the material CAN be left behind. Other times (like mine) the root actually ending up cracking after the root canal and THAT caused pain. You really need to contact the dentist that did the work and let him know and make the decision as to follow-up.

If the reason you needed a root canal is an infection, or it caused inflamation, it will take a few days to a month for the pain to subside. My hubby had a root canal for an abcessed tooth last Monday and it is still sore.

I don't know. I've had 2 root canals and never had any pain afterwards. You need to see your dentist, something could be wrong.

yes of course. I would think if you had it for over 10 days or so...to go back and see your dentist
