The proper response to this question is simply that you don't. It's considered rude to speak in such a fashion to someone older than you. I have to admit, though, it is tempting, especially when they go off about the "end times."
I used to know a crazy old lady like that, too. Etiquette demanded that I not tell her how I felt, so I didn't. But after a while, for the sake of my own sanity, I had to avoid her. It was the only socially acceptable way that I could avoid a major faux pas and keep myself from being dragged away by the little men in the white coats.

Quite frankly I think "crazy little old ladies" are a riot. Tell her that your more interested in what's happening now, and when the "end is near" to let you know how it all goes. You would rather wait, why spoil the ending.

Maybe it's you who is crazy. The definition only lies in your mind, so to truly call another person crazy is just beyond me. The majority of people would say Einstein was crazy (if they never knew of his amazing abilities). There are infinite reasons why a person acts the way they act and there is no reason to judge them and hold your own mental capacities in higher esteem...Different strokes for different folks.

Don't bother telling her that you think she's crazy. If she's not crazy, she'll just get mad. If she is crazy, she wouldnt listen anyway.

You don't. You feel sorry for them. You politely listen, then leave. Or you leave right away. But telling them they are crazy will not change what they are doing, will not help them in any way, will only hurt them -- and won't make you feel any better either, will it?
