My kids are well behaved and I make them listen to me, BUT it drives me crazy wwhen they do this. This morning I said oh we are out of straws, I guess I need to get some more. They were eating breakfast and then 2 minutes later my oldest said, mom we are out of straws. I swear they have their fathers selective hearing as soon as I start talking LOL
Do your kids do the same thing???

My middle two,( twin eight year olds) do this all the time! I thought I was the only one they drive me absolutely insane. Then the older of the twins, who never shuts up, goes in to a rambling mildly incoherent speech about what ever it is, until I finally have to tell her to STOP TALKING!

I actually took my son to the doctor about this...I was convinced he had horrible wax buildup that was muting his hearing. The doctor assured me he was just selectively deaf. Just yesterday he asked for something to drink, I told him to get a Juicy Juice out of the fridge...he said we didn't have any and I reminded him that we bought some the day before. Two minutes later, he said he wanted a drink...again I told him to get a Juicy Juice...again he told me we were out and I reminded him that we bought some more. Three minutes later he did the SAME thing...I finally gave up and got him a glass of water...his response...I want some Juicy Juice...I told him we were out!

LOL No my kids don't do that I do. My only excuse is I am really hard of hearing, I the doctors say that an hearing aide won't help. It's only a 20% hearing lose in one ear but you be supprised how much I don't hear when people don't make sure I am paying attention. Or some times I miss hear what people say.

Oh ya, they do things like put empty boxes in the pantry, or one sip of milk, or no soap in the showers. etc. the list goes one they really think that it is funny. So one day I empty the ceral boxes and milk (little sip) away and waited. Mom we are out of this and this and this And I told them, I sorry, I'll get it later, well I didn't and after a couple of days, they got it. Now we have a list, if it's not on the list, I don't get it.

It's morning. The only way kids listen during breakfast, to anything an adult says, is if you are specifically asking them a question.
