have a Hewlett Packard Photosmart all in one, need scanning advice?

I need to scan documents to my external harddrive, but this HP has its own program and automatically sends all scans to this as bitmap, without even giving me the option to change it to a PDF ( i have scansoft pdf creator) and send it to my hard drive, can you disable this HP so that it opens in a more usable program

Your best bet is to contact HP. they have excellent customer service. Good luck.
