I guess by the reasoning of believers in god that means flying pigs must be real.

Your thoughts?

I get tired, I really do.

First week of logic class, we learn that it's almost impossible to prove a negative. About the only negatives you can prove are logical contradictions: reductio ad absurdum, if I remember my Latin spelling right. To prove by this method, you assume the opposite of what you believe, then follow the implications until you come to an absurdity.

So, for example, if pigs were able to fly, since they are so heavy, they would need really huge, strong wings. If they had huge, strong wings, we would have spotted them flying around by now, even without being inebriated. Since we have no reliable reports of flying pigs, it is REASONABLE TO CONCLUDE that they do not exist. Furthermore, you could use a host of other arguments regarding the dynamics of flight, biology more generally, etc., which I do not have. But you still come up with "reasonable to conclude," which is not irrefutable proof.

Remember that the usual definition of "proof" is based on what we do in a court: the evidence is presented, and then the jury, or sometimes the judge, draws a conclusion based on the evidence as to whether it is proved by the standard of proof for that type of case. The strictest definition is beyond a REASONABLE doubt. Not absolutely, 100% certainty.

You are right, no one has been able to disprove flying pigs. So I am going to start a religion based on flying pigs. Claim that afterlife is only achievable through eating flying bacon and drinking flying pig blood, and then explain that non believers will be sent to the slaughter house in the sky for eternity for not accepting the message, after all they cannot prove that loving, flying pigs don't exist, so they must.

Right argument, wrong conclusion.

No evidence that flying pigs DON'T exist...
That means flying pigs COULD exist.
You need actual evidence before you say they DO exist.

This argument for God strikes at those who say God does not exist. It should not be used to prove His existence.

Until I have proof either way, I admit to not knowing whether flying pigs exist.

No, it just means that flying pigs is another "theory" according to their misunderstanding of the word theory.

You just have to feel the existence of the flying pigs in your heart. Blasphemer.

my thoughts is that people needs at least half a brain to be productive in society, that said, if a half brained washed crazy has their entire belief structure based of something that isn't real, does that make them sane or insane??? it has been said that a human mind can only deal with 10% of reality otherwise we will fall victim to insanity, so does believing in something so insane and fanasy based as God actually help you stay sane??? my thoughts is, who cares, be a productive part of the human race... otherwise shoot yourself.

Flying pigs could exist, that's true.

Just because I've never seen one, doesn't mean they don't.

I don't believe they do, but that's just me.

This is my thought.

Is there nothing that flying pigs cannot do?

(I like those double negs)
