Demons work for the devil by trying to steal and recruit people from God, so yes in order to do that they lie, steal, cheat, murder, terrorise. You name it. It says in the Bible that Angels minister to God. Many times Anglels have been sent to give someone a message from God. Some of the people visited by Angels are Mary, Joseph, John the Father of John the Baptist, Daniel and many of the other prophets. So yes I guess you can say they are soldiers for God. That is a good description.

Most humans don't realize the many different types of angels that exist, which have many varied roles. They are and do the will of God.

There are teachers, administrators, transporters, guardians, soldiers, messengers, observers, recorders and much, much, more.

Angels are ministering spirits to those who are heirs of salvation:

"But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool? Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?" - Hebrews 1:13,14.
