Austria and Germany are members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization(NATO) and that is the reason that they have Military Troops in Afghanistan and that is the requirement of member states to provide military assistance!!

Because the Taliban used Afghanistan to grow illegal drugs to ship across the world, including to Germany and Austria.
Basically, the Taliban spread addiction to other societies.
