religious veiws state that the purpose of life is to eventually make it to heaven/god. well then why is is that our bodies are designed in a way to live as long as possible? for instance we have an immune system, we scab to stop ourselves from bleeding. our hairs stand up on end when we are cold to get heat ETC. we are DESGINED to survive. why would god design us to survive when at the end of the day he wants us in heaven? you must die to go to heaven but its against our own instincts to die though. we are wired to survive at any cost. it is unhuman to let death take over, we all fight for our last breath. why is this? maybe subconscioully we dont believe in heaven and truly know there is notjing after death so we fight to savour its last moments?

lol just a university student bored i liek to spark little debates and make people think its good for the brain.

That's why humans invented suicide... quickest way to reach "the man"...

But I, being an atheist, found this question amusing.

Thanks for brightening my morning ;)

Because in the Bible, when God created Adam and Eve, he created them to be capable of living forever. I don't believe that everyone goes to heaven.
Then there's the rather well known fact by now that every reference in the Bible to "hell", "hades", "Sheol", etc - is actually a reference just to death itself or "the grave".
The Bible does speak of a resurrection - so since God always does what he sets out to do, and his original purpose of having people live forever on earth has not been fulfilled yet, then that will be some future event. This is why, I believe, that Jesus was able to heal people while on earth. He was showing that someday, he will be able to heal people and resurrect people from the dead.

When man was first created there was no death. He was designed to live forever. Man introduced death by sin.The wages of sin is death but God sent his Son Jesus to die on the Cross and redeem us from our Sin so that we might be saved. We will not all die! Read: 1 Thessalonians vs 15 onwards.

That is because we were not design to go to Heaven. Think of this, if Adam and Eve did not sin they would have been still alive here, on Earth. We all would have enjoy the privilege of living everlastingly. Our days were cut short because they decided to take the Devil's offer and reject God's offer. Therefore, we lost the privilege of living everlastingly. We are now in the process of regaining that. Read Psalms 37:11,29

Okay, I'm giving you a star for making people think, not the debate part. To answer your question. Yes we were made to live not die. God did not create intelligent creatures in his own image to die. We die as a result of sin inherited from Adam. (Romans 5:12, Romans 6:23)
Christ suffered and died to give us back what Adam lost for us (1Corinthians 15:21,45) By exercising faith in him and his ransom sacrifice, we can get everlasting life.(John 3:16)

its true we where not made to die and if sin hadn't entered the world threw adam then we would have no reason to die. heaven would be here on earth. we all would have been able to walk with God like Adam did before he sinned. and if the earth was to run down then God would just recharge it like he intends to do after the Apocalypse. but as soon as eve took that fruit she brought on death before then there was no diseases or they didn't have to worry about poisonous animals or being eaten by animals. even today our bodies would last a long time if there was no sickness to ware our bodies down.

Man was designed not to die but man sinned which separates man from God who created and sustains him.
Sin does equal death.
Sin is what causes disease and death and all do eventually die.
We are not created to live forever there are forces in the world that cause the flesh to deteriorate.
The man who accepts the atonement will be resurrected and changed from a corruptible to incorruptible

I don't think it is correct to say that we were born to eventually make it to heaven/god. If you look at life as a game and that the dynamic principle of existence is survive and that a game consists of freedoms, barriers and purposes and that everyone has a purpose or two in life. Well, then, there is more to life than you thought.

God wants us to feel life.....and all the emotions and our body has a limit.... it may get wounded and get healed but it it has a certain limit. God wants us to do pleasing things for Him.... and heaven is His reward for our sacrifices. He make us live because we are the care taker of the world He made.... and He wants to prove that we are all for Him..... and we are not on the side of His enemy.

Peace be with you.

Our goal is to experience all the things of the physical world, and to name them.

In the beginning we were all spirits, we could see the physical world but we could not interact with anythings in it.

We could not taste, feel hot or cold, we could not experience touch. God our Father realized this and created us (spirits) bodies (houses) so our spirits could interact act with those things in the physical world.

But our new bodies gave us new desires (lust, greed, and broken promises) that were evil in our Father;s eyes. We are not damaged due to sins of our father, Adam/Eve. we are damaged because we ourselves sin.

When our spirits were born into bodies, God the Father removed Himself from our presence, and gave His son authority over our spirits, but He gave His other Son authority over our bodies. and they were to write our names and deeds in a book.

Our Spirit never dies, it is just born again in a new body. but everytime we are born again, our knowledge of past lives and of heaven and hell are swept clean and emptied. The new body must be garnished (made male of female) before our spirit can enter into the body. However, an unclean spirit must take 7 other spirits with it when it goes into it's new body. Luke 11:24-26 and Matt 12:43-45

We must overcome our sins and theirs as well.
This is why Jesus told us not to worry about our bodies or about being killed, but we are to worry about those who can kill both body and soul.

To kill the soul, those who live by revenge (the sword) shall die by the sword (truth, two-edged sword).

While the spirit is living in a body it is called a soul, it is spirit when it has no body in which to live.

We are alive to serve Him. We live to know Him, to spread His word and bring people to His kingdom so that we can live eternally. God has a plan for us and when we have fulfilled his purpose for our lives He will bring us home.
