here is a little story about if God exists:
A man went to a barbarshop to have his hair cut,as the barbar began to work, they began to have a good conversation. They talked about so many things and various subjects. When the eventually touched on the subject of God, the barber said: I don't believe that God exists. whiy do you say that? asked the customer. Well, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God doesn't exit. Tell me, if God exists, would there be so many sick peopl? would there be abandoned children? If God existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain. I can't imagine loving a God who would allow all of these things.
The customer thought for a moment, but didn't respond because he didn't want to start an argument. The baber finished his joband the customer left the shop. Just after he left the babershop, he saw a man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair and an untrimmed beard. He looked dirty and un-kept. They customer turned back and entered

the barber shop again and he said to the baber: "you know whay? Barbers do not exist." Hown can you say that ? asked the baber. I am here, and I am a barber. and I just worked on you! No!! the customer exclaimed Barbers don't exist because if they did there would be no people with dirty long hair and untrimmed beards like that man outside..; Ah, but the barbers do exist what happens is, people do not come to me> EXACTLY!!1 affirmed the customer. Thats the point! God, too exist! what happens is people don't go to him and do not look for him that's why there's so much pain and suffering in the world. this really blessed me hope it does the same for you also

You are suggesting no one could ever get their hair cut unless there were barbers?
Because I've seen many people who are sick, crippled, not so well off who praise god. I know a girl who was shot, is now a paraplegic, and thanks god her life was spared even though she can't even get out of bed without assistance now. I also know many people who are healthy and well off who don't believe god exists. How could this be possible according to your story?
It just doesn't add up to me. You can't pick and choose your facts. You have to consider all of them or none. Fact is not a matter of interpretation. I do, however, believe that barbers exist.

No I don't, but I'm still waiting for your punchline...
Edit - Ah! There's the punchline.
The analogy fails, miserably. You see, your god is purported to be omnipotent. He is also purported to not be in need of anything.
The barber cannot cut all heads of hair at the same time, while your god certainly should be able to handle healing the ills of the world in an instant.
The barber also needs money in order to live, and though he might engage in a charity haircut or two, he could not possibly cut the hair of all indigents and have enough time and resources to also making a living.
In contrast, your god needs no money, and being omnipotent, also needs no resources to accomplish healing the ills of the world.
Third, the barber can be seen, touched, heard, talked with (not just talked to), smelled... you can take his heartbeat, look up his background, interview his family, take a picture of him, hold his hand, view his work, eat dinner with him, measure his height and weight, take blood samples and analyze them, and even reproduce with him if you are female and so inclined.
None of the above is true of *any* god, let alone your god in particular.
Therefore, the comparison of people not going to the barber and people not going to god as being the same thing also fails.
People do not go to the barber because they can't afford it or don't want to.
People don't go to god because there's no evidence of any god.
And pardon me for saying so, but if you've never known someone who prayed ceaselessly for help and received none, then you are being willfully ignorant.
I can only hope that one of those people doesn't get hurt by that ignorance, for to those people what you have asserted here with your story would imply that they weren't deserving of your god's help for some reason.

Ah yes, this childish story.
Sorry but it doesn't prove that your magic sky-pixie exists. It just proves that anyone who would believe this idiotic tale deserved to be fleeced by a con man behind a church pulpit.
And we finally get the punchline. Still just as trite as any other I've read. And just as untrue.
You can prove the existence of the barber (the person who just got his hair cut should have been able to do that) but in all the years that the christian cult has been around, there hasn't been a single, solitary shred of credible evidence to support the existence of god. Not one.
See how logic trumps igorance?

That's a lousy analogy. If God exists, he has the power to stop all suffering, yet he doesn't. The barber has no such powers over people.
So suffering exists because people don't come to God? Is God that lazy and heatrless that he won't reach out to someone with a horrible disease? And how do you explain little babies with diseases and deformities? They're that way because they haven't done something to flatter this indifferent God?
Thanks for reminding me of why, even if your God does exist, I want nothing to do with him.

ROFL!! @ some of these answers.
Daisy, i'm sorry You ran out of room, and perhaps i'm not the only one who would like to know the end of Your parable.
edit:
Now i know. And i did not get the chance to read or hear this story ever before, so double thanks.
I'm beginning to get something through my thick head, or maybe this is an atypical day for Atheists. But it finally occurs to me, because so many of them say here that they don't understand the story or they argue about other ways to get hair cut. In the same manner that i am utterly unable to imagine NOT believing in God, many Atheists are genuinely amazed that anybody ever could believe.
Well...{sigh} Many Blessings!

I saw this one before doesn't make sense to me.
Oh okay there's the rest of it. What I don't understand if everyone is neat and groomed as in hair cut or trimmed that means that the barber would become non existent in terms of needing his help to keep people looking groomed? So if people possibly by the hundred and thousands do not go to god for help by praying and worship he will not be able to help or refuses to help?

always loved this story. and yes I not only believe He exists, I know that my redeemer lives. And for those who do not get the story- I think they don't want too get it that God exists. God is seeking us out- and all we need to do is go to Him.
and for those who say this story is stupid because it does not prove anything- even if Jesus came down and did miracles, and died on the cross and rose from the dead, they would still not believe- oh yeah, that happened!!!

Cute little stories designed to convince 5 years olds are not going to work on grown ups. At least not intelligent ones.

That's lame. It's again the equivelant in saying 1+1=3. Why?Because people just don't understand logic and reasoning so they follow what they are told without question.
