When olive oil is heated to deep frying temperature, it is fattening just like any other oil. It is more healthy when eaten cold, poured over salads or used in sauces etc..

It is fatty, but it doesn't contain bad fat, it just contains fat of the good kind, the one you need to be healthy and get energy. In fact olive oil is the best and healthiest oil available at the moment. It is the star in the Mediterranean diet which is considered one of the healthiest diets ever. I would recommend you to use it!

Oil is fat. Therefore olive oil is fattening. It is healthy because it is high in monounsaturated fats.

in order to explain this answer you need to understand what creates fat.

consumption of good fats like poly and monounsaturated fats (which olive oil is made up of) is not fattening, trans fats and large amounts of saturated fats are what cause fat to be stored. As well as taking in foods that cause sudden insulin spikes as your body doesn't know what to do with the extra glucose so it gets stored as fat. slow burning carbs (carbs with low glycemic load) don't cause you to store fat as easily as fast buring carbs (those with high or mid level glycemic load).

it isn't one factor, it is many. also the quantities of what you eat too. if you quaff down gallons of olive oil, the unused and unessesary or extra nutrients and calories will be stored as fat.
