If we bring him into our bed after we take him out at 3:30am, he does not urinate. If he is with us in the house all day, he does not urinate. He only does it when he's in the crate. We've tried everything. Making the crate smaller, taking him out every couple of hours, etc... He hates the crate, I don't want him to feel like it's a punishment. We leave the door open when we're home, he isn't afraid to go into the crate. I just don't get it.

lol, now his crate smells like a personal toilet. you gotta get some of the stuff that permanently eliminates the smell, even for a dog's super sensitive nose. to him, if it smells like potty, then that must be the place to go potty.

you could try a new crate, or there's odor eliminating stuff you could get at a pet store.

Have you tried feeding him in the crate? Most dogs won't relieve themselves where they eat or sleep. Also try not giving him any water after you take him outside for the night. A dog 3 months old will urinate every 2 hours or less depending on how active he is.

Hi!! First thing, cut back on your puppy's water intake. That should help with the frequency, especially in the evening. Don't leave him access to water all the time. Have a set time for him to drink water since the cooler weather has set in. It won't hurt him.
His crate, take it outside and clean it up! Don't use anything with Pine cleaner in it. It is dangerous to critters!! Spray it with a urine eliminator to get the smell out of it. Wash all of his bedding, do the same with all of it and everything that he has urinated on. The only time he should be in the crate is during time outs, or if you have to go some where.
He is still young, give it some time. He will learn. But try this and see if it works. I know it did for my girl.

You sound like your doing everthing right! Sometimes dogs will urinate out of spite. Its good you tried a smaller crate but have you also tried putting up his water at night? Pick his water up at 7-8pm depending on when you go to bed but don't exert your puppy after that they he will need water. Is the crate in the bedroom with you so he can see you?

Make the crate smaller, if he has room to pee in the corner and sleep in the other..he will.
