There is a lot of pain in the world and religion and law has been created to help explain the unexplainable and outline a system of justice for those who do wrong here and in the afterlife (if one exists). But people are not happy with the system of heaven and hell because of it's eternal aspect and the questions of why a loving God would send us to hell if he made us imperfect in the first place, among other criticisms. Even reincarnation and Karma could be percieved to have it's unfairness.

What would your system of the afterlife and eternal justice be like if you were to be in control of eveything? Please be very specific.

Well, if I had power to create people however I wanted to, I would create them in such a way that they wouldn't require punishment because they wouldn't hurt each other.

However, if I had no control over my creations, then why would I try to govern them? Let them govern themselves.

Either way, I wouldn't be sending them to burn forever, that's for damn sure.

Today's justice is more punishment rather than help. If one were really interested in bringing justice, one wouldn't merely punish, but bring a person up and re-establish his ability to take responsibility and maintain an ethical life, while also taking responsibility for errors created. Projects which increase the level of decency and morality then are important (such as www.criminon.org).

I don't think this has to much to do with the period after death and before reincarnation. To the extent that it does, it should follow the same concept as I mentioned above.

Once you discover why you did something wrong and can see why that is wrong and what effect it has, unless you are completely psychotic, it is normal to stop creating those harmful effects. Thus, the methods of establishing whys and creating a more responsible person is very important. Helping then is better than punishing.

There is karma, but no one is "punished" just for the sake of punishment. Karma can be very difficult and painful at times, but karma must always be accepted voluntarily (on a subconscious or spiritual level) by the individual experiencing it.

Everybody has free will, so we make our own decisions where we can, while dealing with the reality that everyone else also exercises free will. Any suffering is ultimately beneficial to us (in that subconscious or spiritual sense), rather like when that Jewish rabbi 'Jesus' talked about the Beatitudes (Matthew 5), when he was describing what karma is. Karma is balance and restoration and knowledge. When we learn that hurting another person causes pain, for example, and that we each are connected to everyone and everything else (hey, there's that "golden rule") we stop hurting others.

Life is learning. Endless. When we can see eternity, life is ultimately and always positive. Life is a beautiful adventure in search of love and wisdom, unlocking the mystery of (and celebrating) ourselves as part of the eternal universe.

As a Reincarnationist, I am positive this is what life is all about.

Getting rid of religious superstition would be a good start. Then we'd actually talk about the real issues without the noise.

Can never happen.

People don't do wrong because it is wrong. They do it because they think it is right.

You can't punish someone for perception.
