Years ago when I had a rescue,It was in bad health. When I found it ,someone had thrown it over a bridge with its sibling. It had been shot full of b b's.Later about 3 months it devolped a tumor.I had to have surgery done on my Lil girl.SHe made it thru surgery and was very weak.I brought him home and all he would do is stare into the bowl.Couldn't eat, wouldn't drink.Just stare.I tried to hand feed and fluids with her.But what itv all boiled down to was a sick kitty. She sat at my feet or in my lap for hours.I stayed up til a lil after 4 am that morning holding her.I laid her on her lil bed and said baby I will see u in a few minutes.I shut my eyes and dosed off for a lil over a hour. When I awoke she had past. She waited till I went to sleep to pass.Hunny please call a vet.Because She might be sick, wether it be feline Luke or a cold,or a blockage, etc.I hope she is watching her reflection. But Please dont take any chances. These fur kids depend on us.And I know u love her,Or u wouldnt have questioned her sitting and watching her water.I hope she is ok.But to be on the safe side call ur vet.Let us know something ok.U can email to let me know or add details.Either way I hope she is ok.Usually when They sit liek that,They r sick hun.Try and see if u can dropper feed her some water.I wish u luck. The [ic below is my baby before she past in 2003.

Yes unfortunately it might be a sign of feline luke. There is a symptom when they just hover but don't drink. If you type that in as a Google search term, you will see a lot of links. I had a stray cat doing that after it wandered in my yard and she wasn't in good health at all. Please do some research and if your cat matches the symptoms, bring it to the vet.

She might have just been looking at her reflection.
Also, did she actually drink any of the water? Cats have a sensory organ in their mouths that can tell them if their water is fresh or not, and my cats will actually reject water that is over 24 hours old.
So she might have just been saying,
"I'm thirsty.. but I really don't wanna drink that..."
Just some thoughts.

It might be nothing. Or it might be that she's not feeling well. Keep an eye on her, and if she shows any other symptoms take her to the vet.
One thing you can try is scrubbing out her water bowl and rinsing it well, then give her new water.
Good luck!
