It's because having faith in the Lord would mean that we would be held accountable for our behaviors, which would mean we couldn't have wild sex with multiple partners 24 hours a day anymore.
I know I'd miss it.

What ever you do TRY really hard to tell the truth.
The truth is that atheists do not believe in imaginary sky critters like god, thor, allah, santa, tooth fairy, the easter bunny or even satan.
It has NOTHING to do with 'faith' as you so quaintly suggest.
It has everything to do with the fact that atheists are yet to see proof that your invisible 'god' thingy exists.
Oh, and teach him how to use the language properly - he may get a decent job.

They looked at the various religions and evidence and found it lacking. They will have the same right to look at the evidence and the religions of the world and draw their own conclusions as well. Hopefully, they will be able to do so without being browbeaten, shamed, and culturally coerced into believing one way before they had the chance to think for themselves.

Tell your child to pray for them. Teach your kid that judgment of another person's soul is wrong and God does not like it. Tell him or her that God loves everyone and died for their sins, yes even for the atheists. Tell your kid that like the prodigal son, the atheists have left their fathers home to lead a more fun and independent life without being under the father's rule. But odds are great that like the prodigal son, he will return home someday to his father's home when he needs his love and forgiveness. Ask your kid to pray for all of those who have strayed from God, that they will come back to believe in His love and mercy.

Tell them the world is large and that people who do NOT share your faith far outnumber those who do. Include instruction on respect for those people's right to freedom of religion (including the right to be non-religious, or even irreligious) and on tolerance for views we disagree with. You might throw in some grammar instruction.
