Within the next 5 years? Yeah I could easily see that happening. People CLAIM Sony is so far behind. The funny thing is they are about the same place they were with the PS2 sales as I understood. See they start slower in system sales. Yeah they were out so far ahead of the Xbox that no one noticed with that one. Then you had Nintendo putting out the N64(which was rather short lived and never really had games, now THAT was a bomb as systems go). It is now people are noticing the slow start and blaming it on everything else.

No, I don't think so. Not at this rate anyway. It's been one year since it's released and no single game has come close to making it realize it's potential! The PS3 is the best graphics console bar none but it's not showing it! Praying real hard that a new Final fantasy game comes out quick! And as far as people's argument that they are selling as about the same number of consoles as when the PS2 came....thats not a positive argument. Think about it, video games are far more mainstream now compared to then thanks to games like GTA, Final Fantasy, Halo, and Guitar Hero. Hence, we have way more people into video games then back then 7 years ago. So the video game population has grown but the PS sales have not.....that means all the excess gamers and/or old gamers are out buying something else other than the PS3. The PS3 can still turn it around, again it just needs a game to get population interested in it just like grand theft auto did for the PS2. Again, Im betting on the next Final fantasy game....
PS. Sorry just had to say this...but sgoldperson WHATHCA MEAN THE N64 WAS A BOMB AS FAR AS CONSOLES GO? The N64 bought you Goldeneye which is still considered to this day the blueprint of how a FPS on a console is supposed to be done. Super Mario 64 which is the 3D game archetype. And The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is considered by many to be the greatest game of all time! It was only available the last 39 days of the year but still became the best selling game of 98 and it's IGN's greatest game of all time. man, I was with ya until you said that....I know you like your PS and I love the loyalty but the best way to win people over is to acknowledge a point and THEN counter it not disegard teh other side altogether! If you had said, the N64 was a great BUT the PS was still the hands down winner when it comes to total impact and sales....

Yes.
If there's one thing i continually hear from people talking about consoles, is 'at the minute i'm happy with my PS2/Wii but i'll get a PS3 when the price comes down a bit.' and then dismiss the 360 out of hand.
The 'Next-gen' always takes a little while to get going and as people look to upgrade more of the PS3's pieces are falling into place;
-the online is solid and getting better.
-the key games are due soon/just on the horizon (actual system sellers like MGS4, GT5, and even Singstar to compliment good lookers like Heavenly sword)
-Blu-ray, if not winning, is performing well against HD-DVD and PS3 is an excellent player.
-Halo3 has been and gone. There are some good games on the horizon for the 360, but nothing that your casual gamer will sit up and take note about.

Lol... funny you should ask that.
The PS3 reminds me of an MVP who has been on a team's injury list for a while but is starting to heal and get better.
I call the PS3 the injured Dan Marino of the console wars. Sure it's been a little rough for SONY and the PS3... but as the PS3's "health meter" begins to improve, it will once again become the MVP that the PS2 was and given 2 or 3 years at the most, the PS3 will once again regain it's crown as the most successful console of all time.
That's my take on it.
HOPE THIS HELPS!

If Sony wants to be on top again, they've got a lot of work to do. Believe what you will about comparing PS3 sales to PS2 sales, etc., but Sony REALLY screwed up the release of the PS3 by 1.) not making enough units to even approach demand, 2.) making the price way too expensive, and 3.) not having enough good titles lined up (which holds true even today, almost a year after release). In addition, any exclusive titles that Sony could've used to its advantage have jumped ship to the Xbox 360 to increase sales (except for Ratchet & Clank and Metal Gear Solid 4--and MGS4 has expressed interest in making the game for the 360 as well).
Now, you are correct in saying the PS3 has a lot of potential and that it's yet to be unlocked, but that holds true for the 360 as well--game developers are still "recovering", so to speak, from learning to create games for previous-gen consoles. In any case, it's not looking too good for Sony, and I don't think they'll be the leaders in the console market anymore--but 5 years is a long way off, so who knows? Like I said, they've got a lot of work to do, but it's looking like Microsoft and Nintendo are going to be duking it out for a while first.

Sony invests a lot of money not only in product itself, but in PR and advertising too, so I think Sony will win again.
