It's quite common here in Berlin. It has a strong gamey taste - nothing like pork. It is very unfatty but can have a stringy texture if you don't let it rest for ten mins after cooking. It's best roasted with some thyme and served with a good apple sauce made with added cider and cloves, mashed potatoes and wilted red cabbage. It's a true German classic.

Like chicken! LOL Just kidding...I had wild boar for the first time in a restaurant in Germany a few months ago. It was very good. To me it tastes like a pot roast only gamier.

If you can afford to buy it and still live comfotably, then why not just try it?
Your taste buds are unique to you.
You've only got one life, try to fit in as many new experiences as possible, including wild boar.
Enjoy!
PS - you could always post a question in the 'cooking' section for recipe ideas?

Gamey pork I would guess if you had it fresh. When I eat it it is usually cooked at length in a tomato based sauce (with plenty of wine) for pasta. I have also had it cured like a prosciutto or in sausage.

Had that in France and it was delicious. it tastes strong, bit like Venison as opposed to beef. We had it in a casserole with wine, wild mushrooms and it was absolutely scrumptious!

Hubby had it once. He said it tasted very strong, but he enjoyed it. However, I've noticed he's not had it since.
