Hmmm ... let's draw an analogy, shall we Deke?

If I give you a space ship for your birthday, yet refuse to give you the directions on how to fly it, I'm setting you up to fail, aren't I?

Last time I checked, God gave ALL of us directions on how to succeed: the Bible. Had He not done so, I'd have to question His sincerity.

EDIT: Jinenglish, there's no need to go off hatin'.

God never purposed for humanity to be in such bad shape as it is right now. There is a specific reason why everything is the way it is, but the blame cannot be put on God. If we go back to read the account in Genesis we can see the origins of how badness came to be.

Here we read the command that God made perfectly clear.

Genesis 2:15 - "And Jehovah God proceeded to take the man and settle him in the garden of E′den to cultivate it and to take care of it. 16 And Jehovah God also laid this command upon the man: “From every tree of the garden you may eat to satisfaction. But as for the tree of the knowledge of good and bad you must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die.”

What happens next explains how sin and badness came to be about.

Genesis 3:1-6 - "Now the serpent proved to be the most cautious of all the wild beasts of the field that Jehovah God had made. So it began to say to the woman: “Is it really so that God said YOU must not eat from every tree of the garden?” 2 At this the woman said to the serpent: “Of the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat. 3 But as for [eating] of the fruit of the tree that is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘YOU must not eat from it, no, YOU must not touch it that YOU do not die.’” 4 At this the serpent said to the woman: “YOU positively will not die. 5 For God knows that in the very day of YOUR eating from it YOUR eyes are bound to be opened and YOU are bound to be like God, KNOWING good and bad.”

6 Consequently the woman saw that the tree was good for food and that it was something to be longed for to the eyes, yes, the tree was desirable to look upon. So she began taking of its fruit and eating it. Afterward she gave some also to her husband when with her and he began eating it. 7 Then the eyes of both of them became opened and they began to realize that they were naked. Hence they sewed fig leaves together and made loin coverings for themselves."

So, Adam and Eve ate of the forbidden fruit and that resulted in their punishment and banishment from Eden as well as loss of their privilege of everlasting life and perfection. Sin was carried through the two of them and trailed down through every single human from there on in, leading up to our day.

But, the Bible puts out real hope for the restoration of Paradise and everlasting life as we read in John 17:3 as well as Revelation 21:3,4. Please tell me what you think; e-mail me anytime you wish to learn more of the hopes for mankind that God sets out for all of us.

Because they are under the mistaken impression that god is all good.

How do you justify that he set us up to fail? He planted Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden and gave them one command: Dont eat the fruit of the Tree of Good and Evil. Thats it! He gave us a great start. None of the other rules and regulations, no "religion", no churches, nothing but peace and tranquility and one choice. And through that one act, sin entered the world and it has been an uphill battle ever since.

That is a tough one, I can't understand it, I guess they just don't think through the implications of an all knowing creator, and don't understand that if God is all knowing, he dictated the outcome of all things including Humanity falling into sin.
