I think it's a good that at last we have Jesus portrayed as a natural human being. Why can't Jesus love a woman ?

I wonder how many people will get all pious and horrified at this thought ?

Of course he could. He was human and human desire.

What gives people like primoa1970 the right to determine what was God breathed or not. These gospels tell us what was going on at the time. 4 Gospels were chosed to be included in the Bible from more than 30. I would like to know the criteria that was used to decide this and to know what is in the Gospels that were rejected.

All Gospels were chosen by man and not as primoa1970 would suggest by God.

In my opinion, the gnostic gospels are just as silly and irrelevant as the canonized ones. However, kissing was a common greeting during those times. One of those gospels also mentions that the other disciples were jealous of Jesus' relationship with Mary Magdelene. Since women were considered second-class citizens in those times, the disciples were most likely offended by the fact that Jesus held Mary in as high a regard as them. There are also gospels, written after Jesus's death, that suggest that Mary Magdelene and her brother preached the gospel to the Greeks. Mary, a woman, was every bit the disciple and teacher of Christ's message as the twelve disciples were.

So those verses are probably less about a love affair, and more about how Christ broke down gender barriers and loved Mary as much as he loved the twelve.

But then again, I'm not a christian, so it doesn't really matter to me. :)

The fact is Gnosticism was fought against by the disciples. They saw it for what it was, and is...heresy.
There are books written (the gnostic gospels) that contradict the real scriptures. But, people thinking there was some sort of a conspiracy, will accept and believe them.
The fact is, there were many different "epistles" floating around that claimed to be from an Apostle, but really weren't.
Who these writings came from are the ancient false teachers.
And people today are really pushing them (publishers, writers) because they are making money on them.

Speaking as a Christian, it does tire me when people try to fit God into the nice, neat little box of their personal interpretation. However, many men and women give up romantic love and sexual intercourse to dedicate their lives to God -- along with Catholic Priests and Nuns, many Protestant Pastors choose to abstain from marriage in order to keep their focus on their faith.

That being said, I can't understand why its so hard for people to imagine that Christ made the same commitment.

Since Jesus was allegedly born of a virgin, the preferred way to procreate if you're a Christian, it's offensive that he might be a real man with real human desires.

I think they should be grateful that Jesus was kissing on Mary Magdalene. I mean...sure it decreases the chances that he was divine...but look on the bright side....isn't it better that he's kissing on Mary as opposed to kissing on one of his male disciples????

But then again...maybe he did that too...who knows????

No matter what type of answer you receive. No matter how "involved" their explaination of whether its false and such. Four words will some it up...Not In The Bible. I have nothing against Christians, I used to be Christian. However, the bible is the source of all sources. If its not in there, it is false and/or doesn't exist.

Because the gnostic gospels are not genuine or God-breathed.

They are fakes..........and do NOT belong in the closed canon of Scripture. They contradict the truth..........the devil has no business trying to confuse people.
