There are addictive personalities out there. Alcoholics will give up alcohol, but find something else to become addicted to. Drug addicts also. If some one is addicted to Santa Claus or the tooth fairy and then it is proven false, they will find something else to focus on.

Many parents I know feel that their children should be raised in one of the conventional religions, so that in situations in adult life where their mind would tend toward the superstitious, the superstitions that first come mind are the time-tested superstitions of one of the major religions. In other words, being raised in a religion is a sort of mental innoculation against more bizarre forms of magical thinking.

I don't believe in god nor do i fantasise that there is something else out there for me to believe in.Its one less thing to think about and so frees up my mind to concentrate on what is important to me.

Mentally immature people do so. Their need of a substitute parent that can hold their hand through life is so great, that any attempt on trying to inform them of independancy in life will fail.

yes because they would invent stories that things are their gods and goddesses...just like people in some parts of africa...they are starving because they believe that everything around them was their gods and goddesses...
