Read Hebrews 12 the hall of faith for some history.
Or the Martyrs Mirror
They still do today. Go to Voice of the Martyrs site for stories.
Here's one I read today on another site. It is still happening:
Converted Sheik is Jailed for Insulting Islam
Bahaa el-Din Ahmed Hussein el-Akkad declared from his prison cell that he is under arrest for "insulting Islam" by becoming a Christian. Arrested over 18 months ago, the Sheik was told he would remain there indefinitely unless he agreed to work as a government informer against other converts to Christianity. Although the courts ordered El-Akkad's release from prison months ago, State Security Investigation authorities deliberately ignored the ruling. They Sheik is said to be in weak health from prison, suffering from high blood pressure as well as skin diseases caused by extreme temperatures, unsanitary cell conditions and bites from insects and small reptiles.

Greetings Friend,
Although I think I know what kind of answer you are looking for, please allow me to answer the way I see it first, then I will answer your question according to the way I think you mean. If I am assuming too much please forgive me.
First, my view: no one suffers because of Jesus. While I understand that many people have supposedly suffer for Jesus and that Jesus himself suffered, that is not necessarily the case. Another understanding is that Jesus did not suffer at all. He went to the cross to prove that He could never suffer. He wanted to should us that we are not these bodies. If we were these bodies, then yes, we could suffer. But, we are not these bodies. That which we are can never suffer. He wanted to show us who we are and we are not these bodies, which most think they are. We are so tied up in the belief that we are these bodies that what I am saying sounds silly or insane to most, but if we reason it out, anyone who believes s/he will live forever must believe that s/he is not the body because the body will die. And, if we are not these bodies, then what suffers? So, while it may appear that Jesus suffered, or others suffer in Jesus' name, that is not true because who we are can never suffer. God does not demand sacrifice or suffering and Jesus proved that we cannot suffer by rising from "the dead".
Now, if you want to know who appeared to suffer or suffered according to tradition, the book of Acts is a good source. There one can see how Paul, Peter, and others all counted it glory to suffer for the name of the Lord. In addition, hebrews chapter 11 show people suffering. But, even if one looks at it as if these people really did suffer, did they count it as suffering or did they see it as a great honor that God bestoled upon them. I hope this helps.
sending love,

Lots of honest people suffer because they follow the teachings and the love that Jesus shared and taught. Anyone that is willing to stand up for the truth and walk in the light gets branded as a trouble maker. Anyone that refuses to follow a pastor gets branded as a heathen.

Emperor Nero used to take Christians, ties them to trees in his garden and set them ablaze to light his evening parties.
Then, there are the recent Korean missionaries in Afghanistan who were murdered.
After Christ, St. Steven was the first Christian martyr. Only God knows who the last will be.

If a study of Rome doesn't do it for you, try a short history of England and pre-Revolution America. You will find quite a few examples there too.

Too much to be mention here.
You can read the book of Acts. It already stated that Jesus' followers already persecuted!
