The bible says "if we say we have no sin we deceive ourselves."
"There is none righteous, no not one."
"If we say we have not sinned we make God a liar"
So if you say you are good by yourself, well, you just proved to yourself you are not.
Take a look at the ten commandments and see how you measure up.
1. God first in your life - love him with ALL your heart, soul, mind, and strength.
2. No other gods, not even yourself, or money, or love or....
3. No swearing
4. Keep God's day (the sabbath) holy
5. Honor and obey your parents
6. Don't kill(hating is included)
7. Don't commit adultery - Looking with lust qualifies
8. Don't steal - anything
9. Don't lie - even white lies
10 Don't covet (wishing for what's not yours)
Okay, how do you measure up?
Break the one, you broke them all.
Read some of the other comments to see the way of salvation - Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved. Obey the teachings of his word.

The problem with your premise is that you may believe you are a good person, but you judge yourself by your own standard.
It is those who believe the gospel that receive the Holy Spirit, which is the earnest and proof of eternal life. One may well be able to "reverence" God, but not believe the gospel.

If you truly are a "good person" you will receive Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and Lord.
You will then see God and live forever.

Hate to break it to you, but you aren't a good person. No one is. It's like Hamlet says: “Use every man after his desert, and who should 'scape whipping?”
The joy of Christianity is that God loves us and saves us, although we are -not- good.

Are you saved? Have you trusted in Jesus Christ alone for salvation?
Remember....no one is good.....not one.
If you've given your life to Christ, then that's the only way one can live forever with Him in heaven.

Good works will not get you in. Good works is saying what Jesus did on the cross wasn't good enough so we have to help him get us to heaven.
