The question shows you need to join another service. Most people join the Marines not just to serve. They join because they want to be a Marine. No time is a bad time to wear the Eagle, Globe and Anchor. To serve in the Marines during a time of conflict gives the individual the opportunity to be part of a very unique and proud fraternity. If you are afraid of combat, you need to look towards the Air Force or Navy. The Army and Marines will be involved in ground combat operations somewhere in the world for at least the next 10-15 years.

I was going to say... but everyone else did, first. There is no bad time to join the Marines. If you ever think there was, then the Marines are not for YOU.
USMC, it's not a club, it's a way of life.

Chad S this is directed at you-----
You need to do something else other than join the Army at any time.
What are you going to do when this war is over, you join, and lets just say, there is another conflict? Ar you going to ***** and cry, stub your toe and beg for a medical discharge so you don't have to go?
The Army, or any branch for that matter doesn't need folks like you in the service. They need someone they can trust next to them, in combat or not.
Do yourself a favor, take out a couple of student loans like 90% of everyone else. Go to college. Your service is not required college money.

Speaking as an X marine, only if it is what you really want to do. Beware: The marines is the hardest branch of the service. You need to be strong enough to stay.
Joining the marines is not the problem. It is how you handle the marines once you are in.
You never know what is going to happen in life. War or peace. This makes life interesting.
You need to ask yourself one question. Am I strong enough to be a marine?
Just trying to help.

Not really. Just because we are at war doesnt mean a thing. It just means the Marine gets to do what Marines are trained to do.

Its never a bad time to join any military branch. Just remember no matter what branch of service you join, you signed the dotted line and knew there was a chance of going to war and risking your life.

War time is a bad time to join ANY armed forces branch if you're NOT ready to assume the dangers and / or challenges of Iraq war and it's consequences.
