Even the peaceful, harmless, kind people, who just happen to believe in a greater being?

I'm a nice person, but I am a christian. However, I still accept my friends who are atheists and non believers and am equally as kind to them. I certainly never, ever preach to anyone and tell them theyre going to hell.

So why, are some people so intent on pushing me to give up my faith? It's not going to happen! I'm not hurting anyone, and I can't help what I believe, so why are people so critical?

Adam - please actually read what I have said. People are pushing me to give up my faith, but I have said "it's not going to happen." So I am not weak of faith, and you have asked a pointless question.

Christmas Cat I know how you feel, I am the same way. I never preach to anyone, and I never ever tell any one they are going to hell. I am not God who am I to judge them.
I have had people try the same thing with me, one friend thought I was not saved because I go to a different church then her. She kept talking about how I would go to hell if I did not leave my faith & go to hers. (She got a little forceful about it) At first this really hurt my feelings because I am a Christian, I do love God & I try to treat every one the way I want to be treated. But after talking with her again, I realized she was truly concerned about my soul.
She believe a lot of misconceptions about my faith . I tried to explain the truth about what I believe but she would not hear me. Finally we stopped talking to each other.

I think the reason some people try to force their religion on others is because they feel that it is the right thing for them to do. They believe they are helping us, to come closer to God.
But what they sometimes fall to realizes is that you can not force someone to think the way you do. I truly believe that most people mean well.

I think you are a very strong person because you believe what you feel is right, & not what people try to force you to believe.
In your heart you know whats right , you only need listen to God He will guide . (which I know you do *HUGS*)

God bless

Your speaking of Atheists and to a degree Muslims, those are the only two evengellical activist groups.

Christians, will being evangellical, aren't activists in the rank and file. We bring you the word and let you make up your own mind.

Atheists and many Muslims push you with rhetoric.

They're looking for a weak mind.

I guess that makes them cults by the technical definition, for they are looking to bend a weak mind.

I think, when you get down to the bottom line, anyone who tries to force their beliefs (or lack thereof) down someone else's throat does so from a perceived sense of superiority.

I have seen some people say the reason they answer questions on here in an ****** fashion is because they want to dispel all the myths and ignorance in the world. But nobody listens when you're an ******! And who are you to appoint yourself the bringer of enlightenment to the world?

To each his or her own, I say. As long as someone isn't trying to ram their ideas down my throat, I'm interested in what they say--and I might actually consider their points. Otherwise, just realize that they are doing it out of a need that THEY have, not to meet a need that YOU have; and ignore it.

I wouldn't say I am intent of trying to force or convince people out of there faith, but if those faithful people brings their covictions to a public and diverse forum like this one, I feel obligated to reciprocally comment on what they say and answer their questions. I thought that was the purpose of a forum like this. Wouldn't this place boring would be if all we did was pat people on the back?

I remember years ago a lady I worked with was trying to convert me into her religion, she'd bring me 2 paper back books one every 2 weeks, she believed in Jesus as so do I but the religious beliefs were a lot different then mine. I talk to her everyday at work ,but never brought up the books, she asked me if I read one I said "Jesus was a wonderful man "she eventually realized I am not going to change my religious beliefs she did not bring me anymore books but we remained friends at work, If this person continues to bother you and try to change your faith I'd say " My religion is the right one for me , in this life, I am happy and comfortable with it as you are your religion". I read Betty J. Eadie's book "Embraced By The Light" when she clinically died and came back , she saw Jesus she asked him why are there so many religions? Jesus said "Each religion serves a purpose it is a stepping stone for spiritual growth"

Let me put it this way - if you knew someone who had faith that the nice, polite Nigerian gentleman who recently emailed them really was going to give them a percentage of $30 million that needs to be smuggled out of the country...to what extent would you respect their faith?

We do honestly feel that you've been lied to. We may be wrong about that, sure, but looking at it from the outside, that's the way it seems.

People like others who are similar to them and their beliefs. when they come across some one who practices something alien to them they get scared and try to change them according to what they feel is right. this does not only happen in religion, it happens every where if u look for it. in schools ur teachers try to mould u as they are, parents expect children to be behavioral copies of themselves etc. it is human nature to try and change a person to how u would like them to be. what a person needs to know is that u should respect a persons decisions and try not to influence them otherwise.
hope this answers ur question.

They think you're naive, ignorant, and they have had run-ins with people who shove religion down their throats and feel it's their obligation to shove anti-religion down your throat.

Not all Agnostics and Atheists are like that, the overwhelmingly majority of Atheists wouldn't stand for it... But then there are "Internet atheists" who aren't real Atheists, they're trolls trying to aggravate you, ignore them.

CC,
Keep YOUR Faith. I am also a Christian and I attempt to have that same attitude. There are times that I stray from it. Have a wonderful week. YOU are absolutely BEAUTIFUL!
Thank YOU,

I doubt people are trying to get you to give up your faith...especially if you don't preach to them or tell them they're going to hell.
Otherwise...if you didn't tell people...how would they know what you believe....please now.
