Then why is it that only humans worship that God?
PS; Don't come selling the idea that only humans are intelligent enough. I had a dog for years who actually understood and compredended what was being said to him, understood how certain things worked and smart enough to put those to his use.
He was also very sneaky and mischievous.
All in all, he had the intelligence to measure up with half the world's human population. the only difference is that he didn't have the ability to talk and yet I never saw any signs of him worshipping anything.

Sadly for him he ended up in a non-christian family.
My father is catholic - only very agnostic; my mother is a self-confessed atheist and my brother simply a realist. And I'm pagan.
So I'll continuously blame myself for giving our dog the choice of religion. Oh, how could I give him any freedom?

Exactly my point, lazarus. However, this question was meant for mostly christians to answer the why's and hows.
Which I hope one of them at least can...
Thansk for your answer, anyway.

I believe every fauna and flora has a soul - must be my pagan heritage, I suppose - it just seems very hard to communicate between species. Dogs can't form the same letters as we do, and don't have the same larynx as ours, hence can't form the same type of communication language. They need simplified forms of communication to make themselves clear to us, but use their own languages to communicate between them. There is no reason to believe that other animals don't do the same.
From there, it doesn't take long to believe that there could be a soul in that body, just like in ours. After all, they're conscious and they do have emotions.

Finally, she came down from the heavens...damn woman last time, I could at least put in an input was way back...moving on.
having read all the above...I'll say this much about the dog...he
didnt have any religion because there is none. Only the strong
survive and that's the paramount rule in flora and fauna, every
thing else man made up...As far as talking he did real well,
training you to see, with an unjudging eye...U see, its us, we
people who think other things should be like us...I always said
to my dog, i wish U could talk...I guess he got sick of my BS,
AND continuously kept pawing me. in my frustration, I yelled at
the top of my lungs what the fock is wrong with YOU...he stopped, sat on his haunches, looked up at me directly into my eyes, and like i heard a voice say that's what i was asking
you twenty minutes ago...woman, I aint been the same since...
he didnt say one focking word yet, he taught me more about
life, and how to live it without bitcchen and moaning and feeling sorry..then books, seminars, or college courses taken
could teach. hey, i'll step back into the shadows again, where
me and my kin thrive. U take care, I enjoy ur feistyness.da rat.

God is a human construct in relation to our necessity to answer the question of why - why things exist, why we exist, why the world goes 'round, hijacked by some to more effectively oppress others in history and continuing to be used for the same purpose. It is ridiculous to expect a different species, who for the most part cannot communicate metaphysical ideas nor has any particular use for them, to tap into this notion and worship something incorporeal. If anything, I would question why apes, so similar to us in intellect and capabilities, do not worship, rather than a dog, but again the answer would be the same - God is an idea created by man, and thus worshipped by man alone. Intelligence has nothing to do with it.

Sorry "Fridge Raider," trying to equate the intelligence of a Dog with that of a human being (even if sarcastic) is not a scientific reality.
Your question is grounded on false assumptions that have no scientific relevance.
Nothing wrong with questioning religion (I do) or the belief in a higher power, but one should do so in a realistic manner.

morning--second time i get to use this same answer this morning-
History does not record anywhere at any time a religion that has any rational basis. Religion is a crutch for people not strong enough to stand up to the unknown without help. But, like dandruff, most people do have a religion and spend time and money on it and seem to derive considerable pleasure from fiddling with it.
should answer the why part---enjoy the day

Pets can be very smart; but we also anthropomorphize them and interpret their actions the way that we want to. You are your dog's God--he worships you. You provide for him, you love him, and his world revolves around pleasing you.
Why look for a new God when you have a perfectly serviceable one already?

... Who said that only humans worship God? All of God's creations worship Him and are conscious of Him one way or another. Try reading Qur'an to your dog and see if he'll listen or not. That'll answer your question one way or another. Try it even if you aren't Muslim, but be sure that you're clean. I tried it with cats and pigeons, and both animals quieted down and listened.

Its good that your dog is intelligent, our dog is so dumb, she can't even catch food that is being dropped to her mouth...
Can you say that just because your dog does not show any form of ritualistic homage to God that it does not actually worship God?
Maybe your dog believes in God and realized that it does not have to flaunt it's beliefs to you...

The human species is not the most intelligent on earth. The human species might be the most decadent and arrogant though. Animals are intelligent enough to be atheist.

But can your dog go against its nature? No.
You say "but my dog would come and rescue me in a fire, and that would be against his nature" but it is not. A dog saving his owner's life is preservation of its food source. Would your dog go into a fire to save his best dog buddy? No, but you would run in to save your best friend.
That's the difference between us and the animals, we have God within us, we have that extra little thing called a soul. Animals do not have this.

All living things do what they were intended to do. As far as a form of worshp, who knows? As you say intelligence cannot be gauged by what form of life one happens to be.
