Are you kidding? The USA would win this one hands down. Let me explain why. First, the Marines only know one way to go....forward. Same could be said of the Army Infantry. Not that the Samurai wouldn't be tough because they would. Secondly, when defeated, the Samurai lived a strict code of Bushido and would commit Seppuku (ritual suicide) so not to be dishonored. NO US forces are gonna kill themselves after being defeated in battle. (Remember the Bataan Death March) If you don't kill them in battle, you will have to deal with them later on....Also, if you saw the movie "The Last Samurai" recall the dialog between Katsumoto (Ken Watanabe) and his second in charge when told about CPT Aldridge's (Tom Cruise) defeat in battle. His second in command said that CPT Aldridge should kill himself because he lost in battle. Katsumoto said "It is not their way." Also, consider the fact that in the movie the Japanese were using US tactics. At the end, Katsumoto committed Seppuku when he fell. Point for the US.

The Ninjas are some sneaky little buggers and would be a force to be reckoned with. The Ninjas are like a bad cold; they just won't go away. You HAVE to kill them. But, the Marines have Force Recon which would be similar to the Ninjas and their tactics. I would pick the US only because the Samurai will commit Seppuku when defeated and the US forces would fight to the death. A battalion of Marines and a battalion of US Infantry against a battalion of Samurai and a battalion of Ninjas would be a great battle, but I think the US would eventually prevail though at a great loss of life.

If the US forces were armed with current weapons, the Japanese Samurai would die very nobly to the last man.

Then when the war was won, the Japanese ninjas would attempt to duplicate the current American fiasco in Iraq.. This would be very stupid, since Americans have night vision technology and the Ninja would be caught totally by surprise and wiped out.
