there have been afew people on here mmaking references to God being the devil, personally I don't believe in god, but the biblical God of the OT does have the personality of the devil, his actions are very evil! EH! LOL
don't you think it is weird that only the Catholic church deals with exorcisms, other Protestant or other christian religions do not beleive in exorcism, funny that isn't it?
EDIT; to the guy below, Pisces! the exorcism of Emily Rose was a true story, though she wasn't possesed, she had a severe type of Epilepsy, the part in the film that mentions this in the trial is correct.

Satan and God are not the same. Again, the doctrines of man seek to dupe God's truth and promises. Trying to convince that God and Satan are the same is based on fear or guilt conceptions that thrive in organized religions. The catholic (and for that matter most christian religions) thrive on ritual and doctrine that is certainly not bible based. Practice of these rituals challenge people to obey or else face the scrutiny and deceptions. The catholic church not only practices exorcism like in the movie but finds exorcism to be quite profitable. Charging for the service or fielding converts is not out of the question. Consider South America, or for that matter, New Orleans where the church has found a windfall in voodoo, the dark mass and occult to free people from demons or promote magical spells for a price. Demons can be used to funnel more individuals to the church, I believe that organized christian faiths prey upon individuals guilt and fear to promote their doctrines. This is not Bible based but man's doctrine.

Keep in mind that Satan would certainly like to be owned as Lord. That was what caused his fall in the first place.
Sure, he may have stopped tormenting the poor boy when owned as Lord. That does not mean that he is Lord.
Many spiritists "cast out" spirits through Satan's power. But the person is not really free. One problem may cease, only for them to discover they have more problems. Satan is out to deceive and devour. He will do it in whatever way he can.
Freedom and life is only found through Jesus Christ. "Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth and the life. No man cometh unto the Father but by me."
God and Satan are not one and the same. Satan may try to appear as God, but he will NEVER be God.

Satan was only second to God, which he lost to God , hence he was cast down from Heaven to be on earth, suffering like all of us. Thus, he is a powerful evil doer that according to Bible, acted or at times passed as God. But of course, there is only one God in Heaven. So my advice is read or do join a Bible study class. It will help you to really understand more about God.

Yes, both are in everybody heart. The event can be a different angle to see. On the point of christian , they will say god arrangement. On the Muslim point of view, will be Satan. I will rather prefer to say it was a karma. I will mercy Satan did his wrong things and he was not happy at all. If he has chance to talk to me, I will tell him how to make him happier.

Satan is a creation of God. Satan do have such abilities in possessing humans. Satan loves to manipulate people to his own desires, so he would bring them down with him. Satan and God aren't the same.

Satan is not God, but Satan is Lord of this world. He rules until Jesus Christ returns and takes His kingdom. Man chose Satan over God in the Garden of Eden when they disobeyed God and sin came into the world. Sin is still in the world and Satan still rules the world.
Jesus Christ is Lord and we bow down to no other god including Satan.

Since you are an atheist, why do you want to know, Yes, anyone that is possess will call that demonic spirit their lord, but there is only ONE TRUE LORD, & that is God, But if you allow satan in your body then he comes your lord, the lord of darkness, & not the Lord of Light, you can worship your car & call it lord, but you are not worshipping the One True Lord.

I was possessed once.
It took a year of Lithium & Xanax in high doses to cure me. A person would be surprised at what a mentally/chemically imbalance person is capable of.
THERE ARE NO SUCH THINGS AS DEVILS,GODS, & DEMONS
That reality replaced the drugs and I have been fine!

Satan is the god of the people of this world. Christians are called to separate themselves from the world and worship the 'good' God. They are definitely different.
